If I click the "return" button the message goes away and the movie continues to play. It's really annoying. I've opened a ticket and both myself and support have relinked by UV account and the issue continues. I hope it will get resolved soon, or I'll be trading in these bd players for something else, as vudu is my main source of movie playing. Thanks.
We have found that some Sony BD models have issues with their internal clock/time (that is used for deciding when to renew UV rights, etc) that may be causing this. It has been reported to Sony but I don't know the current status.

Re: Sony Blu-ray Player - Vudu App Error

I just bought a Sony BDP-S3500 and noticed the Ultraviolet Account Required error on my Blu-ray player. The error happens at the 104 mark and after the 200 mark on whatever video I watch. I checked the Network Settings under setup and ran the Network Connection Diagnostic and found that iPV6 was giving me an error. I found out that iPV6 on my router was not enabled. I have a Nighthawk Netgear R7000 router. I went into advanced setup, iPV6 in my router and enabled it and set it to auto detect. Once I installed iPV6 I checked the status on the blu-ray player and made sure it was making a connection. Once I ran diags and both iPV4 and iPV6 were making a connection I played my movie and I did not get the error. I am in the process of checking this to make sure it this is a valid solution. If you would like to try this let me know if it works for you. I would like to here feedback.

I too have a Roku 3 and Sony BDP-S590 that do not give the error. I did not see the iPV6 diag in Network Connection Diagnostics on the Sony BDP-S590 so I suspect it is only working with iPV4.

      Update:
I watched 4 movies via vudu without error and on the 5th one I got the error.

Re: Sony Blu-ray Player - Vudu App Error

I have the same issue with my Sony Blu-Ray Player. Vudu attempted to fix it, but it still persists. I'm quite amazed and furious this is still happening.

Re: Sony Blu-ray Player - Vudu App Error

I'm having the same error on my new Sony S5500. I also have an issue that when I select "Play" to start a movie it simply kicks me out of Vudu and returns me to the main app screen. Rather frustrating.

FYI, Sony fixed the issue and we verified the fix. Hopefully new BD firmware should be pushed out relatively soon to resolve it.

                  They just posted!

Looks like a fix is on the way!! GOOD NEWS!!!

Thank you all for helping to identify and narrow this issue down to our 2015 BD model players. With your feedback we were able to replicate and after review, our software designers determined the root cause for the message "Ultraviolet Account Required" after 64 minutes of playback.

This condition will be resolved in the next firmware version release (M25.R.0218) that is tenatively scheduled for mid-May. Please note that firmware release schedules are subject to change.

Again, I thank you for your feedback and support, and apologize for any inconvenience that this condition has caused.

                  Chris

OP here. This issue just came back this week. Not sure if there was a change on the part of Vudu or Sony.

Anyone else have the issue come back?

I doubt either Sony or VUDU changed anything this week - though UltraViolet did, and there have been a few hiccups. Give it a few days, and if you are still having problems please post again and we'll look into it.

                          Thanks, Jake!

It very likely could be an issue on UV's side. Interestingly, this issue is now happening on my Sony BDPS3200, which I've had for a couple years and it never happened on it before while I was having the issues on the 5500. Also, previously the error was occurring every 64 minutes. Now it's happening every 4-5 minutes.

It just started about 2 days ago, fingers crossed that it goes away soon...

Yep, every five minutes on the PS3 for me as well.
