My son bought/rented movies without me knowing.

This past Friday I was at work and my sister was watching my son. He found the remote to the smart tv and managed to rent a few movies and buy one that we already owned. I didn't notice till I checked my bank account. I called the customer service number and waited for someone to pick up for 45 minutes and nothing, I can't find an email for support. I need help. Is there anything that can be done? Can I get a refund? Those expenses weren't in my budget. I did what I had to do with the remote so it wouldn't happen again though.

    Thanks,

    -Rey

Is there a way to set up a secret PIN number so no one can actually purchase or rent except for the account holder?

If not, then this is a feature worth adding to Vudu.

Sadly, the parental controls are not what they should be with Vudu and all other services like Netflix and Hulu. But Vudu does a better job than most of the others in my opinion.

You can set a PIN for renting and purchasing movies. You can even set up Vudu to prompt for a PIN to play movies above a certain rating (PG-13, R, etc.) but there may be some titles with a rating of NR that will also require a PIN when you don't want it to and some PG and PG-13 titles you may want to actually have controlled. Basically, we don't feel that the movie industries standards are GOOD ENOUGH for our kids and we would like to see something that gives us FULL CONTROL...maybe allow us to lock all titles and then select which titles are unlocked and when Vudu is first started it would allow us to unlock and it would remained unlocked until we leave the app. Also, I think that all locked titles should be hidden and when browsing all titles above the selected rating should also be filtered. I have seen DVD covers that I find offensive and that I would rather my young children not see every time they go into Vudu. This feature should carry over to the trailers and even the coming soon sections.

I also wish that their "history" included what is being watched and not just rentals and purchases.

While Vudu is better than most, they can still make great improvements to help parents out.

How do you setup a PIN for purchasing and renting movies? I haven't seen that option before.

Under My VUDU select "Info and Settings" and then click on "Parental Controls". This doesn't exist on the website, so anyone in your family that knows your VUDU logon will be still be able to make purchases via the website.

This just happened to me last night. I noticed my son watching the force awakens in his room. I asked him, how were you able to watch it? He said he found it on Vudu and started to watch it. He is 6, so I highly doubt he was able to figure out our parental code on his own. I then backed out to check if the parental controls were working, only to see we now have TWO copies of the force awakens in my vudu library. The digital copy I got off the blu ray, and the newly purchased one he had just done. It seems like the parental controls must have not worked at the time he bought this one! I requested help from Vudu customer service so we will see what happens.

Re: My son bought/rented movies without me knowing.

I have the same exact problem, but instead of dealing with a six-year-old child, I'm dealing with an elderly mother suffering from dementia and with the mind of a a six-year-old child. The first time a purchase that I didn't make appeared on my account, I was suspicious but uncertain. Vudu took pity and took the movie back. But this second occurrence, like the first, coincides with a time that my mother is watching a movie on Vudu, so I've decided that I have to take responsibility for her actions just as a parent takes responsibility for their child's actions. Fortunately it's a movie I'm curious about -- I might have rented it, anyway. There was a PIN that I set up for purchases, but that option seems to have disappeared, so for now I'm keeping the remote control hidden.
