In Engadget's review, they also list it as a beta feature, so unless the recent update to the Chromecast removed the "beta" tag, it's still officially a beta feature.
Listen Hoss... I just wanted folks here to know it works in case they want to try it. It works great for me so I wanted to share that... and yes the tab says beta but what I meant to reference is specifically listed as Cast Entire Screen (experimental) and is still buggy... Cast This Tab is not listed as (experimental) and works great, for me anyway..

It would be more helpful to the group if you actually owned the device you were commenting about instead of regurgitating a week old review. And yes, the firmware update helped a bunch. Cheers...

The source(s) I listed state that Google themselves noted the feature was beta. And no offense, but I have been following these sources for the better part of 3 years and if they say Google told them it was beta, it's beta, regardless of how well it works for you.

I agree that it's important to note that I don't own it, but it's also important to note that my information comes from reputable sources. In that regard, it would be beneficial for those here to know what specs your PC/laptop is running, since you are getting such good results from the chrome tab casting.

I'm not trying to start anything here, because we all want the same thing; official Vudu support for the Chromecast. I just want you and any other poster to be aware that while I don't own one (only because they are sold out everywhere), it doesn't mean I'm just pulling info from my rear end.

Re: Please bring support Google's ChromeCast feature in Vudu..

I hope they do an official app, so far trying to play it with mirroring from a chrome tab has very lagging, very disapointed. I don't really want a Roku (have Apple TV and Xbox 360 already) but I really would like a portable VUDU HDX option

+1. I love Vudu, have around 120 movies on VUDU and I am eagerly awaiting my chromecast (should be here next week) and would love to be able to stream my UV movies in addition to the other services chromecast supports.

Re: Please bring support Google's ChromeCast feature in Vudu..

For me, Chromecast + Netflix has been great. It seems to result in better picture quality than using Xbox or PS3 and it's so much easier to browse the content using a mobile device/laptop. I'd love to see Vudu support casting from their browser player and mobile apps just like Netflix does. That would certainly motivate me to start consolidating my collection towards Vudu.

can we get a moderator to respond? does Vudu have any plans to add chromecast support into the Vudu app? HDX?

Re: Please bring support Google's ChromeCast feature in Vudu..

I would love VUDU on such a small device. Now when I want to watch VUDU movies at a friends or parents house then I have to get behind the tv and unhook my ps3/xbox and all the wires and cords. This would make things much easier.

This is good news. Vudu support would make the Chromecast even more useful to me. I finally got my hands on a couple of them at my local BB a few weeks ago, and I like the integration with the handful of apps currently available, but I needz my Vudu on there!

Can you tell us if the Chromecast will be considered mobile or STB (PS3, Roku, etc.)? For me, the SD limitation is bearable for phone/tablet, but if I'm watching on my TV I want to view HDX (as long as I have the film as such), and I'm worried that if the Chromecast is classified as a "mobile" device, we will be restricted to SD viewing only.

Considering that you're basically screen sharing from a desktop PC, they may get limited by the movie companies to only SD, treating it like a PC because it's being streamed from a PC. However, if there was a VUDU app that could be INSTALLED ON the ChromeCast adapter, then we might see some HD/HDX love. Make me want to pick one up even more.

Certainly not as elegant as direct Vudu support, but will work in a pinch while we await official Vudu support.
It's possible with chrome but not with chrome mobile. All I have is my ipad so can't cast until VUDU has been added to Chromecast. VUDU was one of the first after Netflix to add their app to PS3 so I'm surprised they haven't already done so with Chromecast. Soon we hope.

Not exactly. That's what happens if you use the "Google Cast" extension for Chrome to send the contents of your browser to the TV. But if Vudu officially supports Chromecast (which is what everyone is requesting), then the Chromecast dongle will be streaming the content directly from Vudu without the need for a PC in the middle.
