Re: Please bring support Google's ChromeCast feature in Vudu..

At this point, my enthusiasm for this is waning. There has been no update (from a Vudu employee) concerning this topic in months. I'm honestly starting to feel like it's out of play for now, but I would love to be wrong about this.

Right now I'm just hoping the DECE includes the Chromecast on the list of devices compatible with the CFF. Then it can at least stream a download I have stored on my tablet or phone.

First post on here...Just came here to say ....SDK for Chromecast has been released. There is no other reason for delay. If you guys have been working on an app for nearly 3 months, it should be updated or released like yesterday. I purchased a chromecast with Vudu in mind the whole time. Please move this along.

Definitely. the device limit is absurd. VUDU really needs to add chromecast support if it wants to attract more customers and advertise its services as being more accessible.

Re: Please bring support Google's ChromeCast feature in Vudu..

I love my ChromeCast, and love it. I am literally deciding on if I should digitize all my DVDs my self or with vudu, and ChroeCast support is the make or break feature for me. I assume many others will be in the same boat given that ChromeCast has exceeded sales expectations (according to my friend on the ChromeCast team)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring ChromeCast support to the Vudu apps!!!

Re: Please bring support Google's ChromeCast feature in Vudu..

The VUDU app as it exists, at least on my Moto X running Android, feels more like a proprietary browser.
Not only has Google released the Cast SDK, but now they've also added Chromecast support built-into the latest Android SDK, as well. So, I can't imagine, at this point, it taking long to get add Chromecast support in a near future update. Fingers crossed.

Not just yet. We're still in the process of testing.

Netflix and Youtube work great with my Chromecast. I'd really like to see VUDU included.

I see that the 3/29/2014 android app update in Google Play now supports Chromecast. It's pretty good, and it provides for HDX streaming to Chromecast with 5.1 multi-channel audio. I'm not sure if this audio is Dolby HD or not, but it sounds fine on my system.

It does. But certain films will only stream to the Chromecast in SD even though you own the HDX version. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it either. If you look at the title's page, there is a new Chromecast icon to indicate at what quality it can stream.

Can someone from the Vudu team comment on why this is?

I've only tested one for far (Epic in HDX) but all I'm getting is stereo audio. Anyone else getting 5.1 or higher to work? I have my Chromecast plugged directly into my receiver and 5.1 works fine with Netflix in this set up.

EDIT: And now that I've played around with it some more, it's like PS3 playback. I had to set it to "multi ch in" and it seems to be playing the surround sound fine now. Picture quality is great too btw. I'd still like to see a new app that conforms to Google's design standards, but this is a fantastic step!

EDIT 2: And I've now discovered some of my titles are only playing in SD even though I own HDX. I second the person asking for an explanation on this. Thanks!

What's more, some titles don't have Chromecast support enabled at all.

Case in point: Psych S1-5 does not have Chromecast support, Psych S6 can only be cast in SD, while Psych S7-8 can be cast in HDX.

I'm sure these are rights issues that will eventually get sorted out. I'm just happy to finally the ability to watch Vudu content on my Chromecast, so a great big thank you to Vudu!
