Sent a kindly e-mail to Roku regarding the accepted mores of customer service and how consideration and customer centric attitudes pay in this day and age with so many other fancy devices to choose from out there. Doubt they care, but I do feel a little better for the e-mail.
Yep, same thing here. They said order had already been prepped for shipment. Yet it's been 24 hours and no confirmation of shipment either. HA !

I ordered the Roku 3 from Amazon yesterday, thanks to my prime membership it was delivered today. I really like the new WiFi, and new processor. I can now connect to a 5 Ghz radio. Vudu gives me 3 bars HDX wirelessly, previously I needed to connect by ethernet to playback HD or HDX. Playback is now very smooth, no buffering during playback.

        Re: Roku 3 now Available

I've had about two hours to play with the new Roku 3.

The Roku 3 footprint is ever so slightly larger than that of the Roku 2. The main differences are the new UI, a faster processor (BCM1130) and what appears to be 512 MB of Micron NAND Flash (twice that of the Roku 2XS). As previously mentioned the remote has an added headphone jack and Roku also includes a pair of purple ear buds. Roku also includes Angry Birds Space for free vice Angry Birds which came free with the Roku 2 XS. The plug on the power adapter is also much smaller than the one found on the Roku 2 so you can't reuse the old power adapter with the new Roku.

Other than the redesigned UI the Roku 3 performs similar to the Roku 2 albeit it's able to load menus and images faster. I did notice that several of the movies on the Netflix app showed as being available in Super HD on the Roku 3. I don't recall seeing this on the Netflix app my Roku 2 XS and I didn't think my internet service provider was one of the companies that Netflix partnered with to provide Super HD streams.

Streamingmedia has a few pics of circuit boards for the Roku 3 and remotes.

What about 3D? I ordered a Roku3 from BestBuy yesterday. I should getting it on Friday.

I haven't seen 3D mentioned anywhere. If it does support 3D it's not obvious.

EDIT: Only info I can find on the BCM11130 is the following description: "Merlyn? 1080p Dual-Core Enterprise Applications & Multimedia Processor". Broadcom does have specs available for the BCM11140 which does support 3D. Guess we'll have to wait for Broadcom to release specs on the DCM11130 to see if the chip set is even capable of 3D.

              Re: Roku 3 now Available

If it can support 3D, I have not seen 3D listed for the 3D items I have in my Netflix queue, and the Vudu 3D items says it isn't supported.
I was hoping I wouldn't need to rely on a 3D BD player for 3D from the streaming apps, but I guess I still will. So instead of getting a second Roku 3, I will get another 3D BD player to have access to 3D from the streaming apps at my secondary 3D viewing location.

                Re: Roku 3 now Available

I just ordered my Roku 3 at Walmart.com since Best Buy is sold out online and amazon.com is back ordered 1-3 weeks. I don't understand why Roku didn't include a HDMI cable since the Roku 3 only accepts HDMI cables. I ordered a 6ft HDMI cable from newegg.com for $2.49 with free 2 day shipping. Sony doesn't include a HDMI cable with the PS3 and Apple doesn't include a HDMI cable with the Apple TV sorry for the rant.

What's equally mystifying is that, 9 times out of 10, when you buy these gadgets, the salesman doesn't even bother to ask you if you're going to need an HDMI cable, so you find out the hard way when you get home...

Whatever happened to salesmen being familiar with what they are selling and looking for ways to upsell that aren't insulting?

Went out the door with the payment by commission...I remember an excellent speaker shopping experience or two at Circuit City when they were on partial commission.

People used to think that when salesman get paid on commission they don't care what you need but are just trying to make money. When I worked at The Good Guys (west coast electronics store thats now closed) and Circuit City it was better when we were on commission. When I was being paid commission I made sure you got exactly what you needed cause if you return it then it takes money out of my pocket. When it went to hourly at Circuit City no one cared anymore cause it didn't matter to them if they sold anything or not, they still got paid. People fail to realize this.

I buy all my cables from monoprice.com. I have about 5 extra HDMI cables lying around so I never care about them not being included. After all, it would only increase the price of the item.

I usually refrain from replying "+1" or "This." as much as possible, but I too have about 6 or 8 spare cables in my big bag o' cables thanks to Monoprice and their amazing prices. Hell, might as well buy extra when you do order and save on shipping. Heck, my family members got 3 different lengths of mini-USB charging cables from Monoprice in their stockings because I know they now all have Kinde Fires and/or cell phones that use mini-USB.

I've got sooooo many devices that play Vudu 3D that are not on the Vudu website as 3D capable. That thing far from updated, like ever for some reason. I usually just buy new devices to test if they are Vudu 3D and just return if not.

On a forum like this, I'm sure we're more the rule than the exception.

My wife made me get rid of all the old towers I was keeping for "spare parts", but I crammed all the cables into a bag and crammed the bag into a filing cabinet and put the filing cabinet in the closet of the study/server room.
