    Re: Marketing Suggestion

MaxH - Good point on the bundle idea... Similar to the ideas that retailers use to move DVDs... they will sell an Adam Sandler collection, or the Oceans (11, 12, and 13) trilogy, etc. I am not sure that this type of pricing scheme has ever been attempted at a rental level though... it'd be interesting if it could work and like you said, warrant the cost associated.

    Re: Marketing Suggestion

The free rental for every 10 might be something they can do, but if I understand it correctly, VUDU would have to pay the studio their cut on the "free" rental. It all depends on whether they think that it would increase the number of rentals enough to cover their additional cost, I would suppose. I suggested they try and offer, say, a trilogy that usually rents for $3.99 each for $10 for all three, or even three or four unrelated but somewhat similar horror, fantasy, comedy, etc. movies, to encourage movie marathons. I used to do this all the time with rentals or movies I owned.

Those are some good suggestions for customer loyalty. But again some of these bump against the licensing agreements with the studio's and distributors.

Why can't a record be kept of how many times you rent a specific film in say a 6-12mo period, and apply that amount to the purchase, or even 50% of that amount to the purchase.

And if you rent it to 200% of the purchase price then have the "option" to have it, on your HD, or simply view it for free after that.

That is, if you rent a movie 5 times in a year at $3.99 = then have the option to purchase it for say $5 or something.

Another idea would be to have "milestone" rental numbers that give you credits.

That is if you rent 10 movies over a 60 day period, the 11th is free.

That is to incentize the rental.

Or those who rent 2 movies a week for 60 days, get a movie to own (free)

These types of programs create multiple viewings, and more rentals.
