Re: Have I lost my mind?

Just finished Forbidden Kingdom HD. Not bad at all, much better than upconverted HD, but certainly not HDX or BR.

Seems the pq suffers in dark scenes and nightime, but some of the daytime scenes were great, colorful and had tons of detail. It would not break my heart to buy HD every now and then, but I sure prefer HDX.

Well, as far as Im concerned, HDX is great. Bucket List looks just like the 1080p version from Directv.

If they can keep the HDX movies flowing on new releases, Im sold.

I would try to solve the bandwidth issue with your powerline adapters and get your speed up above 4 Mb/sec. This will affect your download speeds for HD and SD content and it will make HDX content take twice as long to get to your box. So I would work to improve that.

Also, how'd you get $220 credit? I thought it was $200?

Ive got the HDX Rambo coming down, will also get the HDX Bucket List to compare for PQ.

Added the HD Forbidden Kingdom for the wife and I tomorrow night. Friday night is usually movie night. After that, Im all caught up until Journey to the Center of the Earth and 88 Minutes come out.

Its nice having $220 of credit

    Its ALIVE!

Gotcha. Kinda like with TrueHD, your player or rcvr must decode it?

Re: Have I lost my mind?

You are right that most folks won't notice the difference. My mom picked up a new DVD player and was just fine with the picture. When I went to her house she was using composite vs. the component connection. She does have a 42" TV and once I made the change it was a major difference that she can see. But she didn't know any better. Now if I could just get her into a VUDU.

Most folks don't even know how to properly hook up their TV's for the best picture. And the documentation provided in the box for most consumer equipment leaves a lot to be desired. None of the big box guys can even explain how to hook up equipment properly.

Even people who know their stuff and are listening in ideal conditions can hardly tell the difference between DD @ 640 kbps and uncompressed soundtrack. Although, I presume differences could be more pronounced in real life when more attention is given to uncompressed/lossless mix than compressed one.
I havent really cared for the BR PCM stuff, but the MasterHD and TrueHD tracks can be pretty amazing. Transformers, and especially Cloverfield, will rattle everything in the damn house.
