The new databases get sent to the boxes in the Thursday through Saturday time frame. Then, the new stuff becomes available generally at midnight local time on Tuesday - like physical media.

As far as Vudu posting updates here on the forums, I'm not sure. It's a manual effort and Shorn's been doing a nice job posting the info lately. I think he intends to do it weekly. It's really nice to have someone like him putting forth this effort as we had not really been having any updates on the forum for some time.

There's also a newsletter that I think is monthly. I forget how often it is as I just started getting it myself.

I have been receiving the newsletter weekly. Content can be updated any time on the VUDU.

Traditionally new releases become available on "DVD" Tuesday's. Every day there can be something new on the VUDU because the platform is constantatly updated from multiple content providers and studio's. I have been suprised on some occasions when I was scrolling though the menus and collections.

        Cool, thanks.

How do you get on the newsletter?

I like to stay ahead of the movies I plan to get with a spreadsheet. I've added everything I know of so far for the next couple of months along with the Vudu rent date. I just like to keep it updated, so the weekly post here and the newsletter will be great.

Ooooh, I see Into the blue HDX as a good PQ test. I also see Close Encounters HDX in my future.

I think there is a "directors cut" of CETK in HDX (I'm on the road right now, so I'm going on memory).

The only thing that saves "Into the Blue" is its cinematography and Jessica Alba.

Just now watched CETK "director's cut" HDX.

CGI from the good old days does seem a bit rough by today's standards. I found the film scenes to be great, but things like the sand storm in the beginning sequence, and the CGI at the end were not as good looking as a modern film and CGI (Speed Racer HDX really stimulated my ADD). Definitely an issue of the source material, as the same stuff sure looked great back when I was in high school (class of '78) as we didn't know any better.

One other thing I was expecting, but didn't get, was the extended footage at the end inside the space ship. I could swear I have clear memories of going back to the theaters for the special extended footage version, but those scenes were not part of the director's cut. Not really a complaint, just reminiscing....
