The Vudu Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Vudu experience. Here, Vudu customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Vudu and Vudu -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). Although the primary purpose of these forums is to help Vudu customers with questions and/or problems with their Vudu service, there are also off-topic areas available within the Vudu Forums for users to chat with like-minded people, subject to the limitations below.

Please post all comments in English. When posting a comment in the Vudu Forums, please conduct yourself in a respectful and civil manner. While we respect that you may feel strongly about an issue, please leave room for discussion.

Vudu reserves the right to refrain from posting and/or to remove user comments, including comments that contain any of the following:

1. Obscenities, defamatory language, discriminatory language, or other language not suitable for a public forum

    how can i manually change the DNS setting on the vudu box?

    at my house, for me to access the internet, i have to put in a code for the DNS, otherwise it doesn't go through. i tried to figure out how i can change the dns on the vudu box, but the only thing i saw that i could change manually in the network is the IP and gateway. does anyone know how i can change the DNS settings on the Vudu box? thanks

    Your right, and that's a tough one. I think the default for DNS is to use the Gateway IP. Do you have a DHCP server on LAN? DHCP should assign the DNS.

      Hi wasya152,

      Do you have a home router or gateway at home?
      Sometimes ISPs provide Static IPs to their customers and their customers only have one device, so they have to configure static IPs for that one device.
      But if you add another device, you now need a router/gateway/NAT device. Then you would configure _that_ device (the router) to talk to the rest of the world with the static IP and DNS configured as your ISP provided (it is usually under the "WAN" section of the configuration page), and you would configure that device to also provide IP addresses on your network (usually referred to as "LAN") through DHCP (that's usually the default configuration for these devices, out of the box). Then the other devices (including the VUDU box) would be configured to use DHCP (and would pick up the DNS servers via DHCP).
