    Fire TV

Would like to add my voice to the chorus of requests to get a Vudu app that's compatible with the FireTV.

    Re: Fire TV

I know it doesn't address your exact issue, but the Vudu Spark sells for $25, and you get $25 in credits. I think that's a great deal.

      Re: Fire TV

The Spark does look like a cool little device, with the bonus that it's basically free, but I have only a few HDMI ports, and at this point they're all occupied. Swapping out a device for the Spark would be a bad trade because the Spark is a single app device.

My FireTV replaced a Roku Stick that I moved to the little TV in the kitchen. I got the Fire because I liked the idea of having an android powered TV streamer with the bonus of having a good chunk of the android app library available on the device. To my horrorfication, after setting the device up, I saw no Vudu app.

The only thing that comes close is the flixster app they have, but that app is a combination of trash and garbage. It's trarbage. It for some reason only shows half my library available, despite the fact that the flixster website shows my entire library sans the Disney stuff that Vudu now has. Also, flixster for Fire TV is only in SD, so it makes me not even want to pursue opening a flixster support ticket for the missing movies.

At this point, if I were to replace the Fire TV, it would be with another Roku device. I want it primarily for the Vudu, but there are many secondary channels I use as well, including WWE Network and Plex, which I couldn't get from the Spark.

I'm not sure who the impasse lays with, Amazon or Vudu for the lack of an app for the FireTV, but I really wish that the parties would come together on this.

I did, for the record, sideload vudu onto the FireTV but again I'm limited to only SD, and it requires a keyboard/mouse combo to navigate. If nothing else, I'd like to see the standard Vudu android app updated so it would both allow HD playback, and be more friendly to inputs other than the touch screen.

        Re: Fire TV

Most likely the lack of a Vudu app on Fire TV is because of Amazon, not Vudu.

Vudu is a direct competitor to Amazon's digital sales. They want you to purchase and rent from their service, so the lack of a Vudu app is really not that surprising.
