    Escape Plan UHD HDR issues

    Dear team Vudu,

I sat down to watch a recent purchase 'Escape Plan' in UHD quality tonight and at thought at first that they did a terrible makeup job on the actors and made them look like they had a layer of mud on their faces while in prison...but then it seemed a bit over the top...

and I was not too thrilled to realized that it appears the HDR metadata is corrupt with the title and hence making the 'muddy faces'.

Going back to HDX fixed the issue. Since I have never had an issue like this with other Vudu HDR titles on this TV, I can only assume it is from the source materials.

Can you check the master to confirm HDR is working properly with it?

If anyone else is also seeing this, please feel free to chime in as well.

Reboot the device you stream from and see if it's still happening after the reboot.

I did the reboot on my Lg 4k TV via pulling the plug out and waiting a few seconds. Reloaded Vudu and played 'Escape Plan' and the issue persisted. I then played another Lionsgate 4k video with HDR I own 'Hell or High Water' and it looked great - no issues with HDR.

Then on another setup I loaded Vudu up on a Samsung 4k UHD player and via my BenQ HT2550 Projector I played 'Escape Plan' and the HDR worked fine and it looked great.

So, for whatever reason, the particular stream of 'Escape Plan' seems to have HDR issues with my LG 4k TV, if not other LG TVs via the built in Vudu app.I have not played a ton of HDR films on my LG TV (55 inch) but all the others with the exception of 'Escape Plan' looked great to me.

Vudu - can you please investigate this?

What is the model of your LG TV with this issue?

            Any update on this Felipe?

Here is a follow up from my end

I had this same issue with another movie (Greatest Showman UHD) on the same TV so I dug into the TV settings and tried to adjust the picture settings. It turns out that I use a HDR user effect for now HDR sources on this TV. When the TV was fed true HDR sources, the settings from this user setting became 'stuck' in the true HDR picture mode. So the solution was when viewing a true HDR source to readjust the TV picture settings from scratch and that corrected the issue.

I believe the bug comes from the "apply settings to all inputs' option - which it does. But in the case of the true HDR mode, it corrupts the picture.
