Commercial volume with Movies on Us

    Team Vudu,

While I believe Movies on Us is a great asset there is one improvement I would love to see:

Can you please normalize the volume of the commercials to match the volume of the entertainment content?

It is very annoying to 'wake up the baby' with erratic commercial volumes - even from one another. One commercial may be fine, the next blowing out the speakers.

Please help with this! Thank you.

    Hi Diamond,

Just wanted to test this out. could you tell us which device you use for streaming? Are there any specific commercials that are much louder? Which movie were you watching?

      What device are you using?

We are looking into this - we do normalize audio volume across content (including ads) in general. It seems the issue (not normalizing correctly) is happening when playing on some Rokus that only support AAC (not DD+) audio where the original audio source was stereo (not 5.1) - which is more common on ads.

Hi Jake and Daniel - We are watching on a LG 55UH615A (same TV from the bad HDR on Escape Plan 4k thread). Sometimes we watch via the built in app in the TV, and also via Chromecast (v2 dongle). I believe the most obnoxious was via the Chromecast but it has been a few days since seeing. I do not remember the commerical(s) in particular, but will try to take note moving forward and add here.

        No Roku here.
        Thanks for looking into.

Ah, I believe Chromecast also uses AAC audio, that's probably why.

Any fix that I can do on my end or perhaps can a future fix come from Vudu in the future?

If you have a Uni-Volume button on your (Tv, AVR, Soundbar, and/or remotes) try turning it on, That will greatly reduce the volume of those load commercials to the levels of the movie and other commercials.

Have that feature on the soundbar but it makes it so you have to turn up to max to hear dialogue clearly so it does not work well. But thanks.

Sorry that didn't help...do you have a (Clear Voice) button on your remote which increases the dialogue volume?

I hope to look for that but just hope Vudu can fix it so AAC devices are fully supported for normalizing the commericals. Obviously there are a TON of Chromecast and Roku users out there.
