    Apple TV ?

Is Vudu working on an Apple TV app? If so, when can we reasonably expect to see it?

I'd love to be able to watch Vudu through Apple TV even if I had to make my purchases through my computer or other device. Also, it wouldn't matter much to me if Vudu wasn't fully integrated with Apples integrated search functionality.

This needs to happen. The fact that it hasn't happened is curious to say the least.

Agreed....just need it to be like the iOS app, i don't need to buy stuff on the AppleTV, but should be able to view anything...if I can AirPlay then why not just build a native app?

Airplay doesn't even work for me anymore. I like my Apple devices and I like Vudu...surely they could make an app like the phone version so I could watch my movies there! I doubt anyone would have an issue going to the website to buy content and I'd hate to have to stop using Vudu because I can't easily access my content with devices I already own.

Perhaps this news will change the landscape at some point--perhaps the streaming apps currently not available on Apple like Vudu and others will make there way with more favorable terms

Until VUDU supports AppleTV, you will have to use other UV streaming providers that support AirPlay, such as FandangoNow.

Those who want this app should do like I and contact customer service to let them know you want it. Doesn't seem to be a priority for Vudu right now to make an Apple TV app.

                      Re: Apple TV ?

I have contacted iosfeedback@vudu.com a few times asking for a VUDU app for Apple TV 4th gen. To me an app with the exact same functionality as the iOS app would be awesome. I have content on VUDU and Ultra Violet and have no option for watching the content in HD. The Fandango Now app will AirPlay in SD for about 30 seconds and then hangs, no other apps can AirPlay at all. This leaves me with only one option, buy another device for my VUDU / Ultra Violet content viewing (Roku, Chrome Cast, etc ...) which sucks as I already own the Apple TV 4th gen and it has every other app I use.

Please release a tvOS version of the VUDU app!!!

                          Re: Apple TV ?

Just a complete opinion and observation on this Apple TV issue.

VUDU gets no benefit from providing Apple TV with an app.

Apple gets every benefit from it.
If they provide the app, many more people flock to buy their TVs. This is a dilemma VUDU subscribers wrestle with before purchasing the TV.

I-tunes' struggling share on the digital movie market is obvious and is why they would happily accept VUDU to provide an app for them. They have already said as much to the VUDU subscribers that have contacted them and asked them why there is no app. They place the blame on to VUDU.

VUDU can partner up more strategically with other companies out there such as LG who are trying to develop their own version of smart TVs and be given better incentives for doing so.

The fact of the matter is that Apple is so resistant to work with anyone else unless it benefits themselves, otherwise they will make apple users decide in many other areas to either go completely with IOS products or be forced to have two or three different operating software because they choose not to be compatible with anyone else.
(such as they won't provide an I-tunes app for android phones)

If they had about a 50/50 share split with VUDU in the digital movie market, they would never consider the VUDU app, forcing people to choose between their product and all the other movie services.

Apple is smart in their business strategies, that and a superior product is why they are so successful.

But VUDU is also playing this hand smart for themselves, realizing that the likelihood that most VUDU users would throw away their entire collection and start all over in I-tunes movies is highly unlikely.

Unfortunately it's always the users that get caught up in these tech wars.

Here's a benefit to Vudu. Instead of potentially dropping them and buying from iTunes users could continue to buy from Vudu. Unlikely but possible. Also by your logic they are discouraging new users with no/few Vudu movies and they should drop their iOS app as well.

Again this was just an opinion.
Not one that I expect Apple users to like.

It's not very often someone gets the upper hand on Apple, but when they do, it would be unusual for them not to explore it to their full advantage.
No matter what, that advantage won't last forever.

Just like when I tunes was the dominate force on the music market, eventually other free platforms arose and Apple invited them to develop apps so they could also be used on their Apple devices. Again this only happened when it was to Apple's advantage. Prior to that, they were enjoying the lion's share of that market.
Apple still has not made I tunes music for other devices, that wouldn't be advantageous for themselves.

It may be more likely in the future that you see one of the other platforms coming on board with Apple(flixster or such), one of them that has UV compatibility and then most VUDU movies would become available on Apple TV.

Those companies may be where time is best served trying to petition for an app, at least for right now.
