In my opinion and under most state's deceptive trade practices consumer protection laws and under the FTC this is nothing more than fraud. Advertising on the front of my Blu-Ray box from No Time To Die didn't state iTunes Digital Copy, iTunes only Digital Copy or Digital Copy (iTunes). Didn't find out that this movie couldn't be redeemed through VUDU or MGM Universal's own website until I got home, unwrapped movie, watched move several times, then a week later made the maiden and unsuccessful attempt to get what I paid for. The promise of a Digital Copy is one of the reasons I chose to purchase this Blu-Ray movie title. To me, the easy and irrefutable proof here is that MGM Universal has chosen to offered the Digital Copy for sale on VUDU's website and movie applications. In other words, the Digital Copy isn't exclusively for sale on iTunes. If it were, then I'd say there may be some licensing issues here, but it doesn't appear there is any licensing issues here. I'll be filing complaints with the respective government authorities in a hope to end this sort of deceptive trade practice that seems to be raising it's ugly head again. Name in hat.

You can always download the Apple TV app and access the movie there. Apple does not screw up quite as often as Vudu, and when they do, they either fix the issue or refund the customer.

I want my digital titles available through the same app, which is why I've always redeemed digital codes with Vudu. I have all of the other Bond movies on disc and all are in my Vudu library. I had no idea this one was Apple only. I am returning the disc to Amazon and buying it on Vudu. Not worth the hassle of buying discs anymore.

I think it’s the on sale at Vudu this week so good timing.

Yes, it's on sale for $12.99. I bought it last night on Vudu and initiated a return of the 4k disc set to Amazon.

FYI if you go to theaters and buy your movie tickets through Fandango they give you a $5 code every 4 tickets to use on Vudu. It even works with no extra fees with subscription services like my AMC A List. So I use the Fandango app instead of AMC app and get a $5 Vudu code every few weeks. It’s a nice perk.

Every disc I've ever bought that came with a digital code gave me a choice of retailers to redeem the code. That's because nobody with a digital collection wants it spread across multiple platforms and apps. I've never bought any Apple products, because everything they make is designed to lock you into buying stuff through the Apple ecosystem. Whatever they paid MGM to make this title Apple-only, it's a lame attempt to sucker unsuspecting buyers into creating Apple accounts. In any event, I got my money back for the disc and bought a digital copy from Vudu.

Back at start lots of stuff, especially Disney was Apple only. I seem to recall needing a special disc and a copy to even get the movie. Then we had Ultraviolet. Then MoviesAnywhere. Then UV went away. Now we're seeing some Apple only again.

I've also seen Vudu only. And Vudu or Apple but not both.

I've been doing these digital things for like a Digital redeems for like a decade now. Things come and go and I've seen all kinds of variations.

Disney titles were originally in "Disney Movies Anywhere", which made them available across different platforms, including Vudu. It's now "Movies Anywhere", which has replaced Ultraviolet in making digital copies available across multiple platforms. Unfortunately, some of the companies, including MGM, are still not in Movies Anywhere, which is why I either buy or redeem through Vudu. What Apple and MGM did in this instance was highly misleading.

I've got a stack of old DVD's here and they were only redeemable at Apple iTunes. And yes they were Disney Movies Anywhere before they eventually become Movies Anywhere and ported over to Vudu, eventually.

Everything I've heard with Bond was it's a contractual issue. Not an Apple exclusive. Bond is an MGM title but was distributed by Fox. When Disney bought bought Fox the distribution had to be moved out and end up at Universal. MGM themselves is not part of MA, and I don't remember if they were even part of UV or not. Fox, pre Disney and Universal are part of Universal. Fox had a deal in place with MGM on these Daniel Craig Bond titles. But that fell apart during the Disney buyout and pandemic delay in release.

I thought the diustribution was through Sony up until Spectre. In fact, I'm pretty sure Columbia Pictures even co-produced all the Daniel Craig films, not just distributed them. They all thad the intro with Columbia lady right after MGM's roaring lion.

You can try to explain this away however you like, but it is obvious from the posts by other users here and elsewhere that I am not the only person who was misled in buying this disc. There is nobody other than Apple fanboys who are going to be happy about buying a disc with a "Digital Copy", only to find out afterward that it can only be played on an Apple app with an Apple ID.
