This is technically not exactly what this thread is for, but I have 5 titles that Fandango has in UV and Vudu does not have at all. I've been requesting these for over a year so I hope you'll indulge me in trying to get Vudu's eyes on these...

A perfect example of why Vudu needs to get on these UV licenses - I had been wanting Tarantula for a long time but when I saw Vudu didn't have it in UV? I bought it from FandangoNow instead.

Re: UV at Fandango, Not UV at VUDU - CURRENT

I'm confused. If it has the UV code it should be redeemable on UV and then its linked to your VUDU. Why would you buy a digital copy just cause it list UV code? You are already buying the digital version on-line.

VUDU doesn't control, nor any of the playback sites, the digital access. That's what UV does.

Just cause it list UV on the purchase are you getting a UV code when buying it from any of the playback sites?

To use Tarantula as an example, where FandangoNow has it UV enabled but Vudu does not:

                1) If you buy it on FandangoNow, you will get a UV license for it and it will be viewable through any provider that also has it UV enabled.

                2) If you buy it at Vudu, you will not get a UV license and it will only be playable on Vudu.

A provider having the movie isn't enough - they have to also have the UV feature for it "turned on."

I ALWAYS buy based on whether it has UV status, because I don't want my movie collection "stuck" with one company. I have about 10 movies in my UV account that I can't watch on Vudu until they turn on the UV feature for them, which is the problem this thread is trying to fix.

"I have about 10 movies in my UV account that I can't watch on Vudu until they turn on the UV feature for them"

That would seem to me to be a UV problem. VUDU doesn't control the UV aspect. Something at UV is not telling VUDU its in the UV library. UV determines if you have a valid digital copy license or code. Not VUDU.

A valid UV license/code is about UV. If its valid and UV says it is, UV is the one who links it to the provider be it VUDU or Fandango.

The question is why is a valid UV redemption code/license that has been redeemed at UV not linking to VUDU?

You've got things a little discombobulated on how UV works and what this thread (and many others like it) are about.

All purchases and code redemptions START at the providers THEN go to UV, not the other way around. If you purchase a title or redeem a code on Vudu that it doesn't have as UV enabled, it will have no way to enter the UV ecosystem in the first place. A valid UV license will never have been created. UV will have no idea the transaction happened.

The second point is that in order for a movie to go from UV to a provider, BOTH sides have a job to do. UV cannot just link a title to the provider - the provider has to also accept it on their end by way of making it UV enabled. Vudu absolutely does control their end of that handshake. UV can have a valid license for a title in your library, but if Vudu doesn't have it enabled on their end, UV has no way to link it to them in order for you to watch it.

That's what this thread is - it's a list of titles that we were able to get a valid UV license for by purchasing them at FandangoNow (because they had it UV enabled), but we can't watch it on Vudu because they haven't done their end of things by having it UV enabled.

See this thread as a recent example of a customer asking for his purchase to be UV enabled and a Vudu tech helpfully being able to do just that...

In addition to the previous comments about UV titles you can add in redemption site woes.

Case in point, I redeemed the UV code for the double feature - The Ring and The Ring 2 at the Paramount redemption site. The Ring took a while but eventually showed up in my UV collection and then at VUDU. The Ring 2 is in my collection at Paramount but never made it to UV and accordingly never to VUDU.

This morning I contacted Paramount via their website and asked why The Ring 2 was never pushed through to UV even though it is clearly marked as a UV title.

It could be because of the recent issues UVVU is having again. For example, I redeemed both "Logan" and "XxX: Return of Xander Cage" recently and both of them are not showing on the UV site. I reported "Logan" and after several emails back and forth they said they were having problems with the site and would email me when they're corrected. Past issues on UVVU have taken a long time to fix so I'm not hoping for the issues to be fixed any time soon.

Yes, my last two UV movie purchases, Logan and Fantastic Beasts, are not showing up on the UV site.

Edit: Actually they are there, but the sort functions on the UV site are messed up!
