myuv.com doesn't list CinemaNow anymore. In fact, there are very few UV providers left aside from the studios. Vudu, Kaleidescape and Verizon are about it.
I don't see anything on their help desk site other than a year old message about Relativity Media...

The fact they have been removed from myuv says everything though

Furthermore, none of those defunct sites will be able to provide the user compensation for those titles not purchased from Vudu. Any new format will just be viewed with even more skepticism and customers will just settle on obtaining their content illegally. Any future eco system that doesn't support UV is a non starter. Could they do away with UV redemptions or support for D2D? Perhaps, but having them apply this retroactively to our collections would be insane.

The studios really need to get their act together and treat their most loyal customers with respect. Otherwise, they will have no business selling movies digitally.
They are not dropping UV. From what I have read from Zu's house of date posts on another forum they will just be a different ECO system. All the major studios other than paramount are already signed up and they have their initial offering list floating around. Basically it uses the keychest technology that DMA uses and they are confident that they would grandfather in movies already owned on sites that support that new locker as well as UV. I don't know what retailers would be involved, but I would assume Vudu is one as someone said they came across a test page with that icon on a movie as well as UV. According to him there was a discussion of UV joining it and combining, but the talks broke down. Doesn't mean it won't happen in the future that they join back up, but it still seems the studious, including Disney are finally starting to agree on things, and now its up to the retailers to offer their support for it besides Vudu. I, personally from what I read, feel like this is a step closer to having everything in one place and able to watch it across any platform if the retailers will get on board whether its named UV or something else. Personally I think not grandfathering owned movies into the eco system would kill it out of the gate and since its not a storefront I think they would transfer.

It's based on KeyChest, so all the Keychest retailers, (iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, Amazon Video, Microsoft Video Store) will be able to connect to it. FandangoNow is supposed to be added soon. There are a few studios that haven't signed on yet, though, including Lionsgate, Paramount, and MGM.

My understanding of it (and I could be wrong) is that it isn't that they haven't signed on yet, it's that they haven't done the backend work to get their titles into the new locker system...

It could be a little of both. This will be a new locker, not storefront so everything would still be right here in Vudu if purchased here or if they support those lockers. Depeneding on rights and studio involvement you could possibly see some UV movies transfer and others not and some non UV go in and others not.

At the end of the day, there's just no way for anyone to answer that right now. Anything said about it is conjecture. Let's wait and see...

Relativity Media is a studio. Even Vudu lost the rights to the UV status. However, if you owned it before it lost its UV status, it will still be in your UV library.

The cinemanow page now redirects through a few different sites and ends at an ad for car rentals. This bodes well!!

This is really funny considering that the deal with Target allows people to transfer their TargetTicket accounts to cinemanow up until March 7, 2020.

One would think that cinemanow would be contractually obligated to keep their service running at least until then...

                          Re: Cinemanow dead??

This definitely seems promising... but all titles, UV or not, need to be grandfathered in for sure. I hope this will be one big step towards a unified digital locker (everything in one place), but I'm a little worried that it might just end up being a further splitting and dividing of our collections, making it all more of a mess... I really hope the studios and retailers and UV finally get on the same page, for the greater good for all! Fingers crossed.

The website has been down for a week (at least every time I've checked it since July 20th). That's a long time and makes me wonder if they are dead and gone?

Even though it's a lousy site IMO that I hardly ever use, it's still important to have multiple UV providers to keep the system alive!

I own two movies on CinemaNow, or did. I was able to view it through an app on my Samsung TV.
The other night I turned on the app selector and the CinemaNow app self destructed and was gone.
That was my first clue that something was amiss. Glad I didnt buy a lot of stuff from them, then again that's
Probably why they no longer exist.

Anybody have any luck with getting intouch with Cinemanow? I had over a hundred Disney titles on here as well as a bunch of non-uv or pre uv titles on here. But can?t find anyway to get intouch with them other than the email us support link on the skeleton of their old site. Which I emailed them over a week ago with to no reply. I tried reaching out to Disney Movies Anywhere hoping they could help with the Disney titles as I do have all my reciepts, but they were no help. Makes me hesitant to keep investing in digital, that companies keep disappearing and we seem to have no options to protect our investments.
