    HDR10 Timeline

During the VUDU extravaganza on September 25th, at 11:19PM, @VUDUFANS Twitter account said:

"Oh, and HDR10 support? It's coming. Soon. "

It has now been five weeks and there has been no additional word on HDR10 support. I'm not sure what the definition of "Soon" is but it certainly seems like it should be no more than a month.

Is there any indication of some sort of timeline as to when HDR10 will be added? It seems like VUDU is missing out on a lot of potential UHD sales by not having these movies available for purchase. And the lack of communication about it is a bit disappointing, especially when they give us a little teaser that is never followed up on.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

You definitely aren't alone in this. Based on that tweet, I thought for sure it would be within a month AT MOST. This is happening at a time where Apple, Google, and FandangoNow have all figured out HDR10 already. VUDU has been saying "soon" and "stay tuned" for as long as I can remember.

I'd love some communication from VUDU to help manage my expectations.

Whenever I read "soon" in this context I personally would give it 1 to 2 years before getting anxious. The good news is you have a heads up it is being worked on which is more than we normally get.

But it has been over a year. They announced upcoming support in September of 2016.

I know it will get here eventually so it's not really about being anxious for the release. However, burgeoning UHD collectors could easily be tempted elsewhere since support for HDR10 is non-existent on VUDU at the moment.

I really enjoy the VUDU platform but locking out a significant portion of potential sales makes zero sense to me. Especially when you have FandangoNOW, Google Play, Amazon, and Apple TV all offering HDR10. VUDU has always seemed to me to be forward thinking with a lot of its technology so this is all slightly baffling to me.

Yes it is, for example, when a young person has that long to live.

nah. you'd want the docs to tell you that you have 1 to 2 years to live... not " you're going to die soon "
