Since there is no upgrade option, I am holding off on a large number of titles.
Same here. I won't buy anything in SD any longer...except maybe a poorly animated kid's movie, where the difference would hardly be noticeable even on a big screen, and that's not much of an issue for me any longer. (My kid has been more into Harry Potter than Clifford the Big Red Dog for a few years now, although there was some overlap. )

Depends on the transfer. With Total Recall (1990) there wasn't that much difference, but for Hunger Games and other modern films, it makes a big difference on my 46" Sharp flatscreen.

Figure me for a +1 on this also. Dunno if it's possible, but I would be happy it could be done.

Yes!!! I would spend so much more with this company once this gets the greenlight. Think about it- you guys would be making more money for giving us what we already have!!

Re: Option to upgrade from SD to HDX at reduced price.

As always, agree with this 100%. Probably one of the most suggested things...

There should be some method of upgrading SD to HDX without re-paying the full price. Especially when SD & HDX sometimes cost exactly the same price.

In fact, it would be nice if the system would simply auto-upgrade from SD to HDX any time the HDX price dropd to or below the SD price of something you already own in SD. It's like, I paid $15 for the SD versino 'cause that was the only version available, but the HDX version is on sale for $6, remind me why I'm only allowed to have the SD version when the HDX version costs less than what I paid for the lesser quality version?

Some will argue: "But then how would studios make money, if not for upgrade double-dipping"?

Honestly? Selling a "digital license" costs them Lim-->$0. It's all profit. But, that aside, a happy customer is a repeat customer.

Ask yourself this, if a company were to regularly give you free promo "upgrade(s)," would you be more likely or less likely to regularly buy from that company in the future? More likely? Damn right more likely!

A happy customer is a return customer. A miffed customer is a "I'm never buying from you again" customer. The losses of future profitability from irritating a customer (and every friend and family member they bad-mouth you to) are far worse than the losses of Lim-->$0 to dole out a free SD-->HDX upgrade every once in a while as a "perk" of being a loyal customer.

As to how studios would make money off of SD-->HDX cheap or free upgrade: future purchases. Plain and simple. Give up "a little bit" now, to get "a lot" later. Customers don't want to buy the same crap over again, they want to buy new crap. Give us our minor "quality" upgrade, and let us spend our hard-earned $$ on new content. *That* is what we really want and are willing to pay for. And, frankly, there is basically no end to "additional content" available for purchase from studios with nearly infinite catalogs of perma-copyrights. After you buy 10,000 unique titles, there's still 10,000 more unique titles to buy, and 10,000 more after that. More than anyone could likely buy in a lifetime...

They really need to take the "long view" on sales. It's not strictly about maximizing the $$'s or % profit on "this sale," it's also about making sure your customer comes back for the next 10,000 sales they could potentially make during their lifetime. Why would you jeopardize or give up 10,000 future sales to wring an extra one-time cost of $7.49 out of someone? Not good business sense. Some folks seem not to get it. Sometimes, it's worth giving up $7.49 now to access the possibility of getting $74,900 later. Yeah?

              +1
I would love to do this since some of the SD quality movies I have in my library where promotional or copies with DVD that only got SD licences. Who wants to watch the Bale Batmans on our modern HD TVs in SD? I'd also like to see discounted bundles if I already own some of the content.
