    ADMIN/MODS Questions for you!

    1. If I take in a Blu Ray disc and SD or HD is the only thing currently available will I be upgraded to HDX when it's available?

    2. Are there any 3D movies currently in the Disc to Digital program?

    3. How long does it take for new releases to get added to the Disc to Digital list?

    4. If I buy a Disney movie on VUDU will it be added to my UV account?

    Re: ADMIN/MODS Questions for you!

I'm not a mod but I can answer number 4 for you.

Only titles with the UV logo will be added to your UV account.

Disney is not a UV participating studio so they will not appear in you UV locker no matter where you get them.

And even if it is a participating studio it may not be a UV title... i.e. Superman the movie is a UV title. But Superman the movie Collector?s edition (which is extended like 20 mins) is not a UV title at this time.

Also (and this is just speculation) If you purchase a title on vudu that is currently not UV and later becomes UV... I do not believe that you get the UV rights because at the time of purchase they were not included.

Not sure about that because I got Fast Five and Bridesmaid in my UV locker and they were in my Vudu account prior to Vudu/Walmart's Disc To Digital program.

Did Vudu not start UV until the D2D program?

D2D is an ultraviolet supplement program designed to allow you to transfer your existing collection to UV without having to pay full retail again. But Ultraviolet itself Exists independently of D2D.

I can answer #1 from personal experience. No. They will not upgrade you to HD or HDX. You would have to remove the Walmart stamp and take it in and pay again. I had a movie that was SD when I took the blu ray in and when Vudu upgraded their copy to HDX they told me no, they will not upgrade your copy. They said take your receipt to walmart and see if they will do it.

            Re: ADMIN/MODS Questions for you!

            Not a mod but:

            1. No. It will no automatically upgrade when new version is available if you redeem a BR and only SD is available. Whether this or a cheaper upgrade options will be added in the future remains to be seen. I personally have avoided taking movies that were SD only until HDX version is available.

            2. You can redeem 3d Blurays, but you'll only get an HDX 2d copy. There are currently no UV copies that support 3D.

            3. While they have been adding new UV versions of older movies, I don't know of any new releases get added to the D2D list since May. In an ideal solution, titles that support D2D could get it on same day or shortly after release day. But like I said, I don't know of any recent new releases on D2D list since May.

            4. Disney is currently not a member of UV group so no Disney titles on Vudu will support UV. However, they are in "wait and see" mode about UV before they decide if they will join. Could be months, a year, not sure. However, if Disney joins UV, all Vudu purchases of movies that Disney decides will support UV will be automatically have the UV rights to those movies added to your account when the support launches (this is what happened with purchases from the other studios from before UV support when Vudu first launched UV support).

These answers are based on the current situation of UV and Vudu. It's possible some of these things will be resolved in future (like 3D UV copies are just a matter of time IMO). We'll see.

I got a Vudu copy of Bridesmaid on Feb 15 2012. There were no UV logos on Vudu at that time. Walmart D2D starting April 16th 2012 and that movie along with Fast Five were added to my uvvu account.

I personally don't care about Disney being a member of UV but sure wish MGM would get on board because I have several on my wishlist that are MGM titles.

Do the mods not provide insight?

Be nice if they would give us an update to when the new D2D will be released.

One of the Mods (dhatman) said that he would provide information on new movies added to D2D but I don't think that they've added any and that's why he hasn't posted any?

We haven't received any updated lists as of yet. We'll pass the feature request on to make it available to everyone.

                        1. Currently, you'll have to take the disc back in and pay for the upgrade

                        2. There should be some 3D movies available for D2D.

                        3. New releases typically come with a digital copy, so these titles will not be available for d2d.

                        4. Disney is not currently participating in UV.

The only problem with the digital copies is that we never know whether it will be in HDX or SD?

Each studio seems to do things a bit differently. But as I said in other threads, we're working with them to try to provide customers with HD for Blu-Ray purchases rather than SD.
