If it hasn't, most of the time the receipt will just say DVD, and not include the title. So it would be tough to figure out which one is which. Looking at all my receipts a while back, I was able to match one Disney title to it's correct receipt. And that's out of about 25.

Of course that wouldn't be as much as a problem for titles bought in the future. But it doesn't matter, because new titles will already have vudu digital copies.

I agree. Those are a lot of hoops to go though. UV is already heavily criticized for being too complicated to setup.

Will we ever be able to D2D our Disney discs? Does D2D have to be UV?

Ever is a long time and only Disney knows that answer And yes at current D2D only works for UV titles.

D2D isn't necessarily UV right now as it is, Taken Extended Edition is a prime example. It's available D2D, yet it's not UV on VUDU. I agree with others that Disney will go D2D eventually, but it will be their system on their terms. I don't see them going through another provider to offer D2D. The folks at Disney have always been kind of control freaks.

Just as an FYI, and no surprise, The Muppet Movie redeemed HDX via DigitalCopy+ website.

I just picked up the Muppet Movie. Redeemed DigitalCopyPlus...only Vudu and Amazon. No iTunes...looks like Apple is being left out in the cold. Now if Disney would make their back catalog available for conversion via d2d I'll be in hog heaven, and a bit more poorer.

All the DMR codes you have redeemed and all the movies you have on Disney are available on the Disney site. They already have the info to do a conversion to UV if they wanted to. Problem I have is for properties like Marvel because some of those don't show up on Disney's site.

I got my copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas 3d today. The code it comes with gives the option of Vudu, Amazon or Itunes again. Looks like they did not give up on Itunes after all.

Disney is better than you, me and everyone else. At least that's the impression I get from them.

This is like going to buy a shirt and the store picking the color for you.

IMHO, disney is going to be shooting themselves in the foot if they are continually ambiguous with their DC+ selections.

If they are going to have a variable list of digital providers, they should at least indicate which ones are available on the jacket of each title so consumers know what they will be buying.

I could be completley off here, but this is the first title that has reappeared for iTunes since it was "dropped". It is possible, that this title has the iTunes option because it was already released in the past (2011 I think) with a DC (iTunes).

Disney is making it confusing though.

I think major new releases will have iTunes, but minor releases that aren't new will just have AI and vudu.

At this point, UV really has no advantage over just vudu, but when the Common File Format is launched, and people can download movie files and play them on any device, then it will be something that consumers will demand. That's when Disney will join. Not before. I give them until fall 2014.

I'm wondering the same thing, and yes it's the first one to have the iTunes option re-appear after it was dropped over the summer. It's doubtful they would flip flop over formats that quickly, so I'm guessing this one (and possibly a few others to come were already in the pipe with iTunes. Pure speculation though.

My UV family disagrees with you. I have solidly 40-50 movies in my VUDU account that aren't UV enabled and thus are not viewable by my family in NH, Philly, DC, San Diego, and Seattle. As a Boston (area) resident, I really like that my family gets access to my movie collection despite being scattered. Plus it means that I (an adult male) have access to my Disney movies, while my nieces and nephew do not. I sincerely wish it were otherwise, and that Disney would play ball with UV.

                              true.

I would like to add the big ball of wax too.

                              Disc-to-Digital.

When disney joins DECE, I will need to rent a fork lift to bring my collection into the local WalMart photo counter.

I meant for the average mainstream consumer. They aren't using UV sharing, or Disc to Digital very much. Otherwise there would be a lot more UV accounts. They are using iTunes and Amazon Instant and the xBox store. But once they have heard about the Common File Format, and seen how easy it is to use they will switch. I know of several people who refuse to create a UV account until it offers a standard download, and I am sure there are millions like them. It is the number 1 complaint on home theater message boards, amazon.com discussion boards, and tech blogs.
