Despicable Me 2 Pre-Order and Walmart

Here is the Despicable Me 2 pre-order at Walmart. I was really hoping it would include the first movie since I have the disc for it and its not on D2D but looks like the pre-order only contains a figure and a sneak peak at #2.

Now that is really cool. It should sell like hotcakes, with the plush toy. Genius idea to get more people using vudu.

From what I saw last week, it's not a plush toy. It's more like a dog's plastic chew toy.

The prices on these pre-orders are about $10.00 more than you would have to pay if you wait and order from Amazon.com when the DVD is released.

Perhaps but you also don't get the extra digital movies/toys/etc promotions and also access to the movie early on digital as well as the movie a few days before release in the mail (at least I have) with an extra Vudu code.

Most new releases are UV and include the redemption code. We don't really care about watching the movie 1 or 2 weeks early when we can save about $10 and don't care about the toys and don't care about the extra features.

This packaging doesn't actually mention anything about including a digital copy with the preorder.

Yes I said the pre-orders come with a code, giving you an extra code to do what you will with it. You may not care about toys or extra features or early access but how about the extra movies? Several pre-orders like SkyFall, Jack Reacher, Twilight, Star Trek 2, and G.I. Joe have come with access to extra bonus Vudu movies. Perhaps you already have these but not everyone does and may find some value to them. Also I have only paid $18.96 for some of the pre-order titles I have purchased if you get them at the right time. Additionally from my observation I haven't seen too many Blu-ray combo packs that come in at your mythical $15 price point on Amazon. Most come in between $17.99 and $22.99 depending on the title with the average settling in around $20 making the difference only $5. Well worth it to me but obviously not to you. To each his own.

Right, I almost always have the "bonus movie". The exception was Twilight. My wife wanted this series so we bought the new Twilight movie when it was available for preorder because it came with the first movie also. Maybe they should have a version of preorders that come with a free movie of your choice on Vudu.

Oh, and this isn't a movie I would buy on Blu-ray either. I don't spend extra for Blu-ray when buying animated movies for the kids because we really can't tell a difference in the quality of the picture.

You're right about me overstating the savings from buying "new" DVDs on Amazon. You would save around $5 to $6 buying the DVD on Amazon after it releases, but as much as $10 buying a new releases as a used DVDs...which I also do many times (depending on the movie). Take Skyfall, I love the Bond films, but in my opinion Skyfall is the worst Bond film and I wasn't going to buy it, but when I found a "like-new" Blu-ray copy on Amazon for less than $10 I bought it and saved myself at least $10. Of course I could have saved myself even more and not bought the movie at all. Of course I don't always get to have a digital copy on Vudu...but that's okay because I own about 350 400 other movies that are not on Vudu and I have Blu-ray players attached to all my TVs. But many times the title is available for D2D and even once my used DVD had the UltraViolet code in it and it hadn't already been redeemed.

You should have the URL to redeem the code on the card/box that you purchased at the store for the pre-order.

I want to redeem my pre-purchase on Despicableme2 today by December 5, 2013 so the Walmart exclusive Blu-ray Gift set can be mailed to me by December 10, 2013.

This isn't probably going to happen. The pre-order cards that they had out for this movie are no longer in the stores that I shop at, so my guess is they have been pulled in all stores ?

Walmart/VUDU needs to stop the farce of claiming these pre-orders will arrive by release day.
I ordered this months ago and as of today it still hasn't slipped. They use some garbage shipping service so even if it ships tomorrow, Monday, the day before release, it will not arrive for 5-6 days.

I have done probably 20 of these but this is probably the last one. No price advantage and what is the point of pre-ordering if they can't get it in the mail to arrive when claimed when they have had my cash for months.

                            Estimated Delivery:
                            Saturday, 12/14/2013

Release date for both of these alleged pre-orders was today 12/10/2013

Clearly Walmart/VUDU doesn't understand the concept of getting you a pre-order on release date.

Remind me why I gave you my money months in advance so you could get the pre-orders to me 4 days AFTER release date?

I can understand your frustration. Walmart is working to correct this issue with future pre-orders.

In this case, we received the shipments of the movies late. As soon it was received the movies began to ship out to customers.
