    Regal Super Ticket:

...on the topic of Disc-to-Digital, there is now a trend in theaters with "Super Tickets".

This lets you pre-order & pay for a vudu copy of the movie you are buying a ticket for at a discounted price. This negates the need for doing a digital copy redemption and also most often gives you early access to the title before it is available from a brick and mortar store shelf.

This is a really cool offer that I am glad to take advantage of when I go to a theater to see a movie. For the price of pop-corn, I get to file away the title getting auto added to my vudu library on its digital release date.

Has anyone else found this convenience a worthwhile offer from the movie theater companies? It seems to be a trend which is becoming more common.

Never heard of it but I don't go to the theater that often?

I haven't heard of this either, but the last movie I saw in the theater was about 8 years ago. I just did a search for Vudu Super Ticket, and did see a few articles.

Looks like they are doing it with Regal Cinemas and the price is quite a bit more than a bucket of popcorn.

It says, for $20 (not including admission) you get The Amazing Spiderman on Vudu now, and The Amazing Spiderman 2 when it comes to Vudu (says before the DVD release). Both are digital copies only.

Doesn't really seem like a "deal" to me. It's convenient, but not a deal. I am sure Wal-Mart will have it for the same price as a preorder and you would get the discs too. Then you could do whatever you want with them.

I am sure with this release, deals will be easy to find as well.

If it was $20 with the ticket price, that is more appealing.

ten dollars per title is below the street price for MPAA EST.

Normally, when I go to the movies, I have extra cash and a ten-twenty dollar bump in one of the ticket prices seems like a convenience and discount to make the EST purchase on the spot when I am carrying extra money anyway.

...at least, that is my take on it.

I am suprised you don't already have the first Spiderman in your Vudu account already. Since I do, it's not $10 per title, it's $20 for the Vudu copy of ASM2. Which is high.

WalMart does have the preorder up at their stores. For $29.96, you get a 2 foot foil poster, $10 ticket credit to ASM2, Vudu copy of ASM2, and the blu ray combo pack on release date. I still wouldn't pay this personally, but I think this is a better deal then the SuperTicket.

The pricing can also be out of wack sometimes on the Digital Copies. There are many times where you can buy the physical copy of the movie/TV show that includes the UV/DC code for a lower price than the price of the digital copy itself.

I am someone who maximizes my $$ though. If I can get more for less, I will always go that route.

There was a super ticket option for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It included an HD UV copy of Smaug, and an SD copy of the first Hobbit movie for $20 extra. Again not worth it if you already have the first movie or plan on buying the Bluray.

Well, it's a nice idea, even if it's overpriced. I'm hoping they will drop the price eventually, but for now I'll stick to D2D on used/discount bin discs, which is cheaper than $10/movie.

I bought the Spider-man set today. It's probably the nicest vudu pre-sale they've had. The poster's a neat bonus and you get access to some pre-release bonus features. It also comes with a certificate of authenticity. Mine is #9352 of "only" 40,000 I like their optimism....
