Well, here's the definitive word...so not happy about this

    Thank you for your email.

At this time, the 4K UHD format of this title is only available at Microsoft Movies and TV or VUDU if it is purchased digitally. 4K UHD purchases of this title will sync to Disney Movies Anywhere and other participating providers in HD format.

We appreciate your comments and will share your request for a 4K UHD Digital Copy with the rest of our team.

If there is anything else we can do to help, please reply to this email or contact us at (855) 347-3722 and a cast member will gladly assist you!

    Thank you,

    Emer

Pretty sure registering it on Vudu still only gives you HDX. The only way to get streaming UHD with Disney right now is to buy the streaming UHD version and not the UHD disc combo.

Kind of like FOX UHD discs. You only get HDX with UV code. If you want FOX UHD you have to buy the UHD streaming version.

I bought GotG2 and WW both in UHD on Vudu. FYI GotG2 doesn't show as UHD in my DMA account, but 3D oddly.

I bought the Vudu DV version and loved it but there are still those that say the disc version has the best video quality. I guess I would have to see them both side to side to notice the difference?

        64 UHD
        795 HDX
        2 SD

Disc is better, be it Blu-Ray or UHD are still better then streaming. But the difference is negligible enough for most of us that we only do streaming.

Even "IF" PQ was the same between streaming and physical the physical often has better SQ audio.

I did test Pacific Rim and it looked better streaming in DV on an LG OLED than the UHD bluray disc looked.

Just wanted to give an update. As of 9/9 Gaurdians of the Galaxy now redeems in UHD! I was able to get DMA to update my version on Vudu as well!

Thanks for the update. I redeemed my code when the 4k set first came out and was disappointed that it didn't redeem in UHD.

I sent an e-mail to VUDU support to see if they could update mine.

Side question: Does anyone know if the 4K set for CREED (2015) has a digital code that redeems in UHD?

                edit: It DOES!

Who did you email? DMA or VUDU? Fully agree that it is BS as all indications were that it would be UHD but then we got hosed.

So far I've had no luck getting Guardians of the Galaxy v2 upgraded to UHD. I've opened tickets with DMA twice. First time, they re-inserted the title on their end. I even see it my account history, but it never ported over. On my second ticket, they gave me a new redemption code. When I attempted to redeem it through Movies Anywhere, it told me I already own the digital copy. It didn't upgrade my existing rights and flagged the code as redeemed anyway. Now I have a ticket open with VUDU, which is where I redeemed the original code with in the first place.

Thanks for the validation that the at least the DMA/MA folks are trying to get you UHD instead of them refusing saying that it is only HD as they did to the others during the first few days. I'd not checked again as I hadn't seen anyone post that they had gotten UHD on the title until I saw this thread.
Another person on the active MoviesAnywhere thread just validated that it automatically redeemed as UHD for them.

I've sent a note to DMA and to VUDU support. I'll post back here if I/they have success.

I got a reply from "Alex G" in Vudu support saying the redemption sheet doesn't state UHD quality and that they can't override the studio decision on the redemption quality. Is FelipeF or another mod reading this that can step in? This is getting pretty frustrating. I may have to try calling Disney instead of fooling with email support.

By the way, my initial response back from Disney said:
                        Hello Philip,

Thank you for your email. We're happy to let you know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 4K UHD format has now been added to your account!

At this time, the 4K UHD format of this title is only available at VUDU. This title will sync to Disney Movies Anywhere and other participating providers in HD format.

uhg. You can't see the resolution on MA's bare-bones site either to see if they actually did it and VUDU just isn't syncing correctly. At least you have the email you can send to VUDU support to see if they will act on that.

I got a response back from DMA support that is claiming that UHD combo packs (which all UHD discs in the US are) are just HD despite the response you received and despite others saying theirs redeemed as UHD automatically.
Just gotta keep yelling I suppose as first level support is almost never of any value.

I would also like to see VUDU expand the Disc to Digital to recognize movies I own in UHD (4K+HDR) already or in BluRay that I'd like to update to UHD (4K+HDR) and give the option for UHD in Vudu so I can watch digitally in the Apple TV 4K. Right now it only recognizes them as HDX, no UHD compatibility/licensing yet so I heard from customer service.

I have been noticing some improvement in this area. Most of the 4K movies I have are redeeming in UHD if VUDU has it available in UHD. I am at a loss as to what to do about Batman v. Superman as that redeemed in HDX even though the code was from a 4K disc.

Need to contact support wherever you redeemed it to see if you can get them to correct. For future titles, refer to the spreadsheet the mods at https://plus.google.com/communities/...28277523568176 are maintaining to determine where you can redeem a title to get UHD (and where you will get it eg UV and/or MA).
And of course do not pay for any Paramount, Fox or Disney UHD discs until they stop giving UHD customers the middle finger and expecting you to buy the movie twice to get UHD on disc and digital (which of course they don't do with codes on Blu-ray-to-HD digital or DVD-to-SD digital).
