Disc to Digital - A Charlie Brown Christmas

I see where they show A Charlie Brown Christmas as part of the titles that Vudu offers but there's no Buy button...I see that for quite a few movies that I want and find it rather irritating that they even have titles listed that cannot either be rented or bought...

Anyway...I went to the Disc to Digital section on the Vudu mobile app...searched for A Charlie Brown Christmas to see if I could convert a DVD to digital. The search returned the title so I went out and bought a copy of A Charlie Brown Christmas on DVD...got home...tried to convert to digital and got the all to familiar "UPC was not recognized" error.

Has anyone else had this issue with this title and if so have you been able to convert it?

I've email VUDU support but they've never responded directly to my inquiry.

    Thanks.

I don't work for VUDU, but I think I can shed some light on this. The specials have been available digitally in different forms, both as bundles with each other (by that I mean the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas specials together,) and individually with other specials tied in. The digital code I received as part of the Peanuts 70th Anniversary Holiday Collection Limited Edition (Blu-ray+Digital) a year ago from Amazon was issued by Warner Brothers, and was set to expire within a month of my getting that particular set. As I understand it, Warner Bros. no longer has the digital rights to the Peanuts specials, as they were purchased by Apple in 2018, and as such, none of the codes will work when using the discs issued by Warner Bros., nor does Warner have the right to allow digital conversions with VUDU, as they are no longer the rights holder for the Peanuts specials. Until Apple grants such license, they will not be available to convert or purchase in their previous incarnations on VUDU.

Many titles have multiple releases throughout the years. Each one gets a new UPC. If a title is M2D, but released (let's say) 5 times, with 5 different UPCs, all of those UPCs will need to be in Vudu's system in order for each of those 5 DVDs to read. A lot of the time the studio will only give Vudu one UPC to add, making people who own the other 4 DVDs, out of luck. It sucks, but this is all on the studios.

The only ones that you can still convert - assuming you have the correct UPC are:

A Charlie Brown Christmas (Deluxe Edition)
Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back)
Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown
I Want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown - SD
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown
