If so, that would be a kludge but since it's the very first thing I do when switching to VUDU that may be a good stop gap. I'll take a look at that.

Let me know if I misunderstood what you said.
Yep, a new activity with extra start-up commands is what I used, but if RonV's idea works, that might be a better idea.

Got my old MX-500 to work ok with a macro.

But was unable to train my Harmony with it, trying both the learn button and the learn raw button serveral times.

But the Harmony did let me create enough startup entries to get it to work that way. But what a job it was.

By taking advantage of the persistence of the sort-by attribute (i.e. I assumed it would be sorted the way I wanted it) I was able to cut the total button clicks to an even 20.

I also had to play with the inter-device and inter-button delay settings to get it work properly.

So that turned out to be a good, although arduous, suggestion on Max's part.

But without trying to sound overly critical, because I'm really happy that I'm able to search and sort for movies as currently provided by VUDU, there just simply has to be a way to enhance the search feature to reduce the amount of clicks needed to search.

Although I was able to take advantage of my expensive remote to a degree, I think a majority of owners will use the VUDU remote provided and won't have the luxury of doing what I did to make it a little easier.

I still recommend that at least VUDU makes all the filter attributes persistent. With it that way, it would cut down the button clicks to do what I'm trying to do to approx. 8 clicks total (assuming I did the same search repeatedly of course). In addition if the cursor was set to the first search result, when entering the screen, instead of the top of search criteria list, that would reduce the clicks needed even more, down to about 3 clicks total.

        Thanks for the help
        Regards

          Re: IR support

I am still not sure why it is so many clicks for you. But as I have stated before, the Vudu is a constantly changing product. The menus or remote commands you see today may not be the same in 1 or 2 months. I would not spend too much time trying to do something like this with a new and evolving feature.

I want to add some emphasis to Jon's advise. Given that Vudu owners have historically been receiving a new software update every 4-6 weeks, I think it would be very prudent of you to not put a lot of effort into customizing your remote for the current menu system. It is VERY LIKELY that it could change very soon, and we'd hate to see you frustrated over having spent a lot of "clicks" getting it just right, then see all of your work go down the drain.... (hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

              Re: IR support

I am installing a new MX-3000 and can not locate the IR codes for Vudu. I called URC and they did not seem to know anything. I have an email from Vudu customer support which tells me that the codes are already in URC's database. Can anyone send me the codes for the URC MX-3000, I think it requires CCF files. Thank you

                Thanks for the advice.

I'm good to go for now with what I've got.

But even if it wasn't, I'm sure a new version will be available before the blisters on my thumb clear up.

Just hold down on the buttons for multiple clicks.

There's no more additional clicks now than with the Vudu remote...

I have an email from Vudu customer support which tells me that the codes are already in URC's database. Can anyone send me the codes for the URC MX-3000, I think it requires CCF files. Thank you
If you have the updateable software I got home today and was able to download a 33mb update (not availalable yesterday) and all univiersal remote devices had the VUDU device under Aux.
