The Fandango at Home Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Fandango at Home experience. Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). Although the primary purpose of these forums is to help Fandango at Home customers with questions and/or problems with their Fandango at Home service, there are also off-topic areas available within the Fandango at Home Forums for users to chat with like-minded people, subject to the limitations below.

      I never got a case number (or any reply). I just have the original email I sent to support@vudu.com (VUDU Customer Care) titled: Source Code (HDX) missing 5.1 sound on July 13, 10:02:11 PM EDT.

              In the end is there even an issue with Source Code? 5.1 titles specifically state that they are in 5.1. Otherwise whatever they list is only in stereo. although it would be easier if they listed 2.0 or stereo for it.

              The master they got for source Code must only be stereo otherwise it would have been listed as 5.1 since they encode whatever they get on the master.

              Personally i was going to rent this title until I saw it was not available in 5.1. So I will just wait for the BD to come out so I can rent it. Before I rent a title I check to see the audio format. If it isn't 5.1 I then decide if I will rent the disc or go ahead and rent it from VUDU.

                We originally received Source Code with a Stereo soundtrack only.
                But we requested the 5.1 version and just re-encoded the title. It is now available in 5.1 surround sound.
                We also put a process in place to catch these cases before you guys see the movie (especially for new releases).

                  So are we allowed a refund or credit? I certainly wouldn't have selected the HDX option if only 2 Channel Audio was only available?

                  I sent a PM to dahatman but haven't gotten a response.

                        Well I did get a quick response from Fred at email support: seems since I did watch the movie I'm not allowed a credit.

                        Thanks VUDU for charging me a premium for a Netflix sound quality experience ...

                          Netflix uses lower bitrate PCM for their stereo audio while VUDU is still using DD or DD+. So I'll take stereo audio from VUDU any day over the stereo audio from Netflix streaming.

                          But also source code was not listed as having 5.1 with the previous encode. Although they should specifically say stereo audio or 5.1 audio in the "more info tab" to make things clearer. Instead of only listing 5.1 when it's available.

                            So be it I got to watch in 1080P, albeit with only 2 Channel audio. At least VUDU Customer Support could have applied a credit of a % off the total charged, that could be used as a discount on another HDX title.
