Cool on the 1.5 features. No, HeadHodge, I do NOT know what they have planned at this point...

The fast update is actually independent of going through guided setup - so if, for example, you unplug your box for a month then plug it back in, you will update to the latest fairly quickly (though the pretty posters will take a bit longer). It happens automatically, so there shouldn't be any need to reset to guided setup...unless you just REALLY want to experience every feature of the box.
I am all up and updated at this point but this post deserves some followup.

If this is the case, why did my box update to 1.4.0 quickly (within an hour) but NEVER did a fast catalog update ? It was a good 48 hours later before I was 'up to date' in the catalog.

I called in to support and they told me there was no way for me to do a quick update so either the feature doesn't function this way, or something else odd is happening ?

Well, wait, if you're talking about "Up to date" in the Info screen, I don't think you'll see that until every last poster and preview is downloaded. (Are previews streamed, or on the HDD? I think they're on the HDD, but I'm completely guessing.) Did you actually try to rent anything? From what I know, as long as you have the minimum streaming bandwidth, you should have been able to watch any movie with a short (< 1 minute) delay to ensure uninterrupted allow streaming, as soon as you had 1.4. Can a Vudu engineer confirm this for us?

As Jake said, we only put the databases on the servers on Friday. So the software that supports the feature was released before the rest of the system was ready...

...there was some internal confusion as well as to which pieces were in place and which were not.

I guess next time we roll out a feature like that, we need to be more clear about when it will be fully accessible.

          Hagen.

That is correct. But you also need the latest database on your box. And that's the part that was missing and only went live on Friday...
