Re: 5.1 upgrade needed for certain titles!

I just joined the forums to convey the same sentiment. In the past, I specifically bought DVDs with 5.1 and now I have been surprised by D2D (HDX) only has 2.0 on many titles! Really? I've just been caught and this is very frustrating. I wish the D2D software would at least let you view the audio specs before purchasing the conversion. At least I would be informed on my choice.

I'm willing to invest in this, but this has left me sour and will hold off.

      Mxgaccount,

While it does stink that a lot of the movies are only encoded in Dolby Stereo it is not a Vudu issue. It is the encode they are getting from the studios. We need to push the studios to get higher quality audio encodes to the vendors.

Vudu also needs to let the studios know which of their movies are affected and I'm not sure this has been done?

Threads a little stale, but I just noticed that HDX "Entrapment" is in glorious MONO! Not even Stereo, to get even some Pro-Logic surround. I opened a ticket, but expect to get "That's what the studio gave us" response. :-(

The info page says it's Dolby Stereo. I agree it should be 5.1, but Mono seems like an issue.

Re: 5.1 upgrade needed for certain titles!

Bumping this thread up . Vudu reps- do you recommend I open a support ticket for all of the below titles that need re-encodes for 5.1 or should I just open one ticket with all? I just rechecked these titles that I posted a while back , and two have been re-encoded with 5.1 , which is great. Now hopefully the rest can be fixed!

As I've mentioned before, most of these are Blockbuster Tentpole films where people expect the best in audio and video quality - two Harry Potter films, Mission Impossible 3, Troy, V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings, Batman Begins, etc.

HDX titles that are only in 2.0 (when you view the title in VUDU, click the MORE INFO tab to verify):
Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring - FIXED, now 5.1
Lord of the Rings Return of the King
                The Matrix
Austin Powers International Man of Mystery
Austin Powers THe spy Who Shagged Me
                Austin Powers Goldmember
                Batman Begins
                The Godfather
                The Godfather Part 2
                Singin in the Rain
                THe Fly (1986)
                Goodfellas - FIXED, now 5.1
                Independence Day (ID4)
                X-Files Fight the Future
Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
                Mission Impossible 3
                Malcolm X
                300
                V for Vendetta
                Troy
                THe Mask
                LA Confidential
                Oceans 11 (new one)
                The Shining
                Napoleon Dynamite

Re: 5.1 upgrade needed for certain titles!

You can add these to the list:

                  The Invasion
                  Saw V
                  Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
                  Batman
                  28 Weeks Later

I have a ticket in since early 2013 for the above titles where the HDX version has a lower quality audio than the HD version and they keep telling me they have to get a new encode from the studio but that doesn't seem to hardly ever happen. They closed the ticket and I believe that it should be kept open until resolved.

                  676 HDX
                  2 HD
                  2 SD

It's been a few months, so I checked a few titles. Seems there's been no progress?
