    VUDU LABS!!

wow guys. You just keep getting better and better. I think I'm going to get VUDU a present this holiday season. I'm going to personally go out and either buy/sell 5 Vudu systems for friends and relatives.

I've been showing some of my techy friends the vudu and they are geeking out. If they had seen LABS it may have caused a scene.

I'm going to make sure people buy this product.

    GOOD WORK!!

Re: Official VUDU Labs Support and Discussion Thread

Has anyone else had any issues with Vudu Labs?

For example, while browsing my Picasa albums I managed to get the box to totally crash and reboot.

Also, I tried watching DiggNation and the Totally Rad Show - both times the box just froze and wouldn't do anything until I powered down. In fact, none of the "tv shows" actually work for me.

YouTube worked once and then after that I was never able to get it to do anything but put a movie quote on the screen and show nothing.

So far the experience has been fairly poor. I'm excited to have the functionality, but there does seem to be quite a few glitches.

Is there any plans for the box to buffer at least part of the content in advance? How about the ability to subscribe to shows?

        Thanks

        Paul

I've not seen any recently. It's good to get some of this feedback. I would put this in the bug reports forum here. I'm sure the team will want to know about it. I'm sorry you are having these problems. It's still very early in implementation and so there are bound to be some hiccups.

Can you tell me about your network setup? Are you using any switches in between your router and the Vudu? Are you using fixed IP on the Vudu or DHCP?

As others have pointed out, VUDU Labs is still experimental, so there are bound to be issues, though I haven't experienced anything like you describe with the released software. It would be helpful if you could email labs@vudu.com with your box's clientID (systemID in the System Info screen) as well as the name of your Picasa user so that we can look into the issues you saw. The good news is that due to the nature of RIA and VUDU Labs, we can often get a fix pushed out quick quickly without a large software release.

I actually am familar with alot of those issues, as most of them happened to me, and were a result of using a static IP. Once I switched it over to DHCP it worked fine. Appears vudu labs don't like Static IPs.

I was wondering about this. My XL downstairs is using DHCP right now but my BX100 upstairs is using a fixed IP. I'll try playing with the upstairs box and see if I can duplicate.

Re: Official VUDU Labs Support and Discussion Thread

I'm using DHCP on Verizon FIOS (20/5 connection). I've had problems with Verizon's router freaking out when I try to transfer a lot of data, so that might be the main issue here.

I'll email the labs guys with my system info.

Overall I'm really excited about this. I recently co-directed a music video and it was fun to find it on YouTube and watch it. (if anyone's interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY8iLYB7Qv0 )

Also, any chance we'll see Vimeo support? It's vastly superior to YouTube in terms of quality.

                  Thanks!

So I tried a usb keyboard (I'm still looking for a good wireless keyboard so I just bought one of these as a stopgap: http://www.neox.net/w/wp-content/data/btc_6100c.jpg).

The only problem is the enter key doesn't do anything. I can move with arrow keys but I can't select anything. Once I use the RF remote to get into the search field I can type a search query. Also if I go to Vudu Labs then I can use the enter/return key to select items there but it just doesn't work on the main interface yet. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I know the keyboard feature is still not officially supported but it great to have this small bug fixed. I'm starting to think that I may prefer having a small wireless keyboard handy over using the RF remote.

I have the same with my Logitech DiNovo Mini -- Enter key doesn't do anything but most other functionality seemed to work fine (didn't get a chance to test playback).

I think this may be the problem. I'm using a small keyboard, one without the numeric keypad (I needed something that could fit on a coffee table!). I have only one enter key.

Sounds like a software update is needed to enable either type of return key to be recognized...

I think cntrl-Return is the same key command as enter.
