    Feedback about New Vudu Interface

Now that the new Vudu interface is out of beta, and available to almost everyone, I will offer some feedback.

First of all, thanks for all the hard work that was put into it. Overall I like it much better than the old one. The color scheme is much brighter, and that's a good thing. The interface elements go well together. I also like the new features, such as the watchlist, and the new genre's and sub-genre's.

What's Missing? The My Vudu section is missing an animation genre. It's available in the store, but not for what we own! For those of us with large collections, it is needed. Also a Disney genre is needed. In any store Disney movies are grouped together, why not in our own libraries?

It appears that vudu spent a lot of time on this interface, but much of the improvements are aimed at finding films to buy. Where are the improvements for loyal customers, who have already bought a lot of films, and built up a large collection?

I would like to request a feature that would allow us to group our movies into custom "folders" or bundles as vudu likes to call them. A lot of movies have sequels, and many have multiple sequels that could be grouped together, and that would save a lot of scrolling when trying to browse our collections. I know that would set vudu apart from the competition! That's my number one request now.

I love the new UI but miss one small thing: seeing the UV logo while scrolling thru movies without having to click the movie. I like using this as a way to quickly see if movies in my wishlist or in general are finally UV enabled.

Re: Feedback about New Vudu Interface

Not at all happy with the forced "auto-playing" on TV seasons- I'm an obsessive viewer and I don't want to see that countdown clock come up on the screen! (Since I started using Vudu 4 years ago, I've already become accustomed to hitting a button on my remote to make that display that comes on during the first few seconds go away immediately.) The last couple seconds seem to be cut off as well. I enjoy all of the closing logos, and on Season 4 of "Bob's Burgers", every episode has previews of other shows at the end that are getting cut off before they're done. Please at least make this an option that we can turn on or off! I will not buy any TV seasons as long as it's going to do that- on shows I have only one episode of, it still allows those to be played clean straight to the end.

A smaller complaint, but using forward or reverse search no longer shows the frames of the points you're skipping through, you only see a still frame of the point you started searching and have only the time indicator to see where you're going. That should be changed back to how it was before.

Is the new interface coming to or yet available for XBoxOne? I can't get over how bad the last UI was.

A 'play from beginning' option would be nice for the next upgrade

There are a number of features (showing thumbnails in real time while trickplay is one; also some animations, etc) that may be disabled depending on the hardware specs of the device. Trickily thumbnails are enabled on, say, the Playstation or Roku 3. You may have a device where we determined it was hurting performance or using too much memory to decode and display JPEG thumbnails that quickly.

What device are you using? We can take a look to see if it may be capable of supporting this (we can't go back and verify performance on *every* single device that runs VUDU, so we generally classify them based uncertain specs, etc).

I'm using a Roku 1. Also have a Sharp TV and Oppo Blu-Ray player, which still have the old interface. (I bought the Roku 1 rather than a 2 or 3 because I heard on those models, Netflix breaks into the end credits of movies telling you what to watch next- that's COMPLETELY unacceptable! Already told them I'd be cancelling my subscription the instant I ever see that on my screen, but thankfully the Roku 1 plays everything on Netflix through with no intrusions.)

Need to be able to remove partially watched movies from the quick launch. some of them I have no intention of finishing up but there they sit... Otherwise it's a really useful feature.

Funny, I imagine that's because the Roku 1 is too slow/limited to use Netflix's newer UI, so they didn't update it. For good or bad, we are trying to keep ALL VUDU-enabled devices up to date with the latest features (ie. things like bundles, pre-orders, Ultraviolet/DMA, season discounts, etc). Honestly it's a PITA, but we are trying not to end-of-life any devices where possible...

There are some issues with certain Sharp TVs so they may not be updated unless/until Sharp updates their firmware. Oppo VUDU UI will probably be updated soon.

I'll mention the request for an option to disable the "next episode" feature, but given it's overwhelmingly popular (which I assume it true on Netflix as well) not sure what priority it will be...

I agree - pretty sure removing from watchlist will be an upcoming feature, though no timeline guaranteed...

I don't like the playback option (watchlist) being the first thing you see when you open up my vudu, if I was in the middle of a Sopranos episode the night before I don't want my 4 yr old to have that as her first option to watch in the morning. And there should be an easy way to remove titles from that list, if I end up not wanting to finish something, I don't want to have to fast forward through it to get it off the list (an almost impossible feat for TV Shows). Although, I was actually very disappointed in this feature when I realized what it actually was. I thought when it said watchlist, that it was a feature where I would be able to add titles to a list to watch, not a function that just shows me the titles I haven't finished.

Also, a Holiday sorting option for movies would be awesome. And Sorting options for TV Shows. I guess this all goes along with the custom folders idea of the OP.
