Official iPhone App Discussion and Support Thread

    Greetings,

As you may have heard, we recently released an application for the iPhone and iPod touch. This app allows you to browse and search the VUDU movie catalog from anywhere you have an Internet connection with your device. Once viewing the details for a movie, you can rent or purcahse that movie and it will be downloaded to your VUDU Box automatically. So, if you remember that movie you've intended to watch forever, you can rent it while it's fresh in your mind, regardless of how far you are from your VUDU box or computer. Another great use is renting HDX titles in advance of your desired viewing time

Please use this thread for discussion of the application and for support.

VUDU.com page for the app >
See the App in the iTunes store >

Awesome! What about those of us with Android phones (i.e. the G1)? Any plans in the works there?

Nothing at this time, though we could revisit in the future.

This app is huge. I think that the amount of HDX movies I/everyone will watch will dramatically increase now that I/everyone can order from anywhere.

The interface is nice, ordering is simple. Well done.

I think Vudu should promote the heck out of this.

One gripe, which is a gripe about the Vudu interface as well. Why are movies listed in the HDX section if they are not currently available as HDX? If I am looking in the HDX section, I want to see movies which are AVAILABLE in HDX, not that may become available one day. Maybe move those to a coming soon section.

Re: Official iPhone App Discussion and Support Thread

I'd REALLY like to be able to flip through movies without going back to the title list. For example, if I'm looking at the list of HDX movies:

              Appaloosa
              Wanted
              Mirrors (Unrated)
              etc

...I'd like to be able to tap on Appaloosa to see the poster and plot summary, then from there, "flick" to the left to go to the details page of Wanted, then to the details page of Mirrors, etc. I won't recognize many titles just from the plain-text title, so I'd like to be able to flip through whatever category I'm in. I don't care if there's an indicator to tell me which movie title is next, I just want to be able to flip quickly through all 99 for 99 or HDX titles.

If VUDU goes under who supports the app?

Are those other smartphones able to access the web interface for ordering?

If you run Opera Mini or Skyfire browsers you can use the web interface but this is the same advise we used to give to the iPhone folks, use the browser. Now there is a app for the iPhone and it would be nice if there was a app for Blackberry's and Smartphones...

Having recently joined the BlackBerry world (approximately 51 hours ago), I agree that a BlackBerry client for Vudu is now essential. The fate of the free world hangs in the balance (these BB's are swee!).

The big question is if you have your Vudu hooked up to your Slingbox and are now watching Vudu on your Blackberry...

I could never get the iPhone Safari browser to work with the VUDU website. Does it work?
