A QUIET PLACE UHD purchase is giving UHD UV rights now. Felipe - could you check on Sherlock? Both titles are Paramount and should be the same.

It really just depends on who you talk to. A lot of Paramount's people are totally clueless and conflate code redemptions with purchases all the time. If there is only an HD code available, they sometimes use that as their reference for purchases. Once this is explained as if you're trying to clarify the difference to a 4-year-old, sometimes they finally get the difference. It would be worth contacting them again. I would recommend that anyone with this UHD title at Vudu, reach out directly to Paramount yourself to explain it and ask them to contact Vudu to give UV rights for UHD.

Let's put it this way: If this DOESN'T go UHD UV, I'm not buying it from VUDU. This is one of the dumbest moves I've seen in a while if Paramount is indeed limiting UV rights to HD for UHD purchases. What a way to cast a gigantic negative light on your studio, not to mention discourage buyers from purchasing your films. It's now on sale at VUDU for $9.99 UHD, but I won't be touching it without UHD UV rights.

And what's the deal with refusing A Quiet Place UHD rights to Felipe, only to turn around and grant them? If they did it for A Quiet Place they almost have to do so for Sherlock Gnomes...cripes.

Are there any updates on the rationale for Paramount blocking the VUDU UHD purchase of this film from granting UHD UV rights? I'm thinking it has to do with MGM's affiliation with the film, but no exact rationale has been shared for what is a very troubling decision. My gut tells me that it has to do with Paramount / MGM not wanting to share UHD quality with other households linked to your UV account. That despite the fact that (I believe) all other films purchased in UHD quality, and that are UV eligible, grant UHD UV rights without fail / issue.

+1 this needs to be fixed. You all have the movie on sale for $9.99 right now for UHD. Even though UV is close to being dead, the movie rights need to transfer correctly.

I have been waiting to buy this at the $9.99 price but with no UHD rights in UV locker, there will be no sale to me and a loss of revenue for Vudu.

I suggest you buy it now while it's on sale. Once the issue gets fixed your UHD license will port over automatically. At least that's what happened with A Quiet Place, at first only the HD license was porting over to UV but once the issue was corrected the UHD license popped in as well. Then again...I have been waiting forever (like months) for the same issue to be fixed with The Man Who Fell to Earth. I purchased HD version of film but only received SD UV license. This has never been fixed or addressed and at this point I don't know if it ever will.

Try years at this point. I battled to get The Man Who Fell to Earth fixed last spring and summer, but VUDU kept blaming UV and UV kept blaming VUDU. Neither side was willing to suck it up, find the exact source of the problem, and work together to fix it. Much of this is just being too lazy / "busy" to make things right for the customer.

This is why I'm doubtful that Sherlock Gnomes gets fixed anytime soon. The studio corresponded with VUDU and told them that they intend for Sherlock Gnomes to have HD UV rights, despite the fact that they said the same for A Quiet Place and then almost immediately granted UHD UV rights. I have little confidence that VUDU will make an intentional and concerted effort beyond what they have already attempted to get this fixed. They are more passive than aggressive when an issue like this arises, especially if they they've already contacted the studio once. I do not see them making the effort to reach out again, despite Paramount's flip-flop with A Quiet Place. I reached out myself to Paramount about this Sherlock Gnomes issue last week, and made it a point to mention the waffle-job that they pulled with A Quiet Place. I have received nothing back from them. I'm hoping to hear back today, but I also wouldn't be surprised if I never received a reply.
