It's changed. I think it was an initial bug or something. Prior it said I owned UHD and HDX on all my HDX titles that were in HDX. Now they all say own HDX but that I can purchase UHD.

Re: Vudu UHD 4K is here!

I just purchased San Andreas in UHD from VUDU and my UV library only shows SD, HD. I'm guessing it's an ALID issue since UHD is mentioned in the UV specs.

UHD is not yet supported on the UV or VUDU side (it's very new to the spec). It will be supported, but of course it's still going to be up to studios to include their UHD titles as UV-enabled.

Jake, is there any way a consumer can track these deliveries? Spec is public, but implementation doesn't seem to be tracked on the UV site. I'm only asking about the technology. I do understand the studios decide what's available in UHD.

Re: Vudu UHD 4K is here!

I wish there was a way to view the UHD titles and prices without going through the UHD device. All the providers (Netflix, AIV, etc.) are preventing customers from viewing UHD titles with a normal browser or with a non-UHD device. Why? I often don't use the same device to view the UHD choices but am forced to in order to browse these titles.

I hope they get their head out of their butts and give the ability to all UHDTV users. I have a 4K Sony and would like to enjoy 4K Vudu, but I will not be buying a Roku box. WTF? This is not a good business model.

UHD information/purchasing (not playback) will be available on the VUDU web and mobile apps, it just wasn't a requirement for launching UHD. It likely will not be available on non-UHD devices for the time being to prevent customer confusion.

Don't expect any more replies from me on this topic without a bit of courtesy in return.

Work is ongoing on other UHD devices/TVs (both upcoming and existing models). Obviously VUDU would like to support UHD on as many devices as possible.

Thank you for this info, Jake. Are you able to share when this will become effective?

Are there gonna be any additional UHD titles offered anytime soon? Or will D2D be made possible for the current UHD titles?

Jake was nice enough to respond to questions on this forum and this is how you treat him. You should be ashamed of yourself. UHD is very new and it seems that your expectation is that VUDU has an app ready for all devices at launch. Please show me another service that has this available.....

Heck, Flixster and Cinemanow do not even have apps on a lot of devices that can play SD or HD.

Of course VUDU wants to have an app of all 4K TV's/boxes ASAP or they won't make money on selling titles.

Good to know that it will eventually be available on the web and on non-UHD devices but "... time being..." is a very relative phrase and I have 3 year old cases with Vudu that have still not been corrected so I won't be holding my breath.

Re: Vudu UHD 4K is here!

I have a samsung JS9500. I purchased a roku 4 to get access to vudu 4k (which like everyone else, was not happy i needed to spend $130 to a device just to allow me to purchase $30 movies). I did buy 1 or 2 movies, but the difference was up and down over blu ray. the roku 4 will not allow me to select 4k 10 bit, so these 4k movies are only coming in at 8 bit, which is a big down grade in color. my blu ray actually gives better color because of this, at least thats the reason i think it gives better color. Long story short, i returned the roku 4 because to me it was waste of money. really wish they would just update my built in vudu app to support 4k, but all this politics BS always screws everything up making everything even more inconvienent than it already is. end rant.

Now, does anyone know if Vudu ever plans to offer the standard SMPTE HDR10 versions of movies or strictly dolby? Its an absolutely rediculously stupid way to make money, to offer an HDR version that only 1 model tv has (not to mention that 1 model tv is 6 grand so even less people will own it, and its a special order tv so even less people will have it!!), when there are 10-20 models with thousands and thousands already sold of people screaming for HDR material to be offered to them. If vudu could offer me smpte HDR movies, i would probably buy at least half of them asap.
