Seriously people? You will NEVER see VUDU on the ATV4 -> ATV Infinity.

They are competitors for the same business. It's as simple as that.

Really, do you think Apple won't approve the app? Apple has approved many similar apps from other services...and we already have an iOS app. The existence or not of an app comes down to the Vudu dev team 100%. We already have an iOS app that allow playback and local storage...

Apple and Google may sell content, but they still provide app platforms and encourage 3rd party development. The whole point of the ATV4 is to open up the ecosystem to more providers. Only Amazon is going the route of being petty about it all .... and exactly how well is that Fire thing selling?

Vudu wins by being on as many platforms as possible. That's certainly one of the main reasons that I use the service. I don't want any service where I am purchasing (instead of renting or monthly subscribing) to be tied to a single platform.

Have never seen a competitor to itunes on the Apple tv (storefront that rents and sells movies...) and I'm wondering if we will even with an app store. If a few of them do show up, then we will know it was Amazon being petty, but if none show up.....

The renting and selling will rarely be in app because of the tax both ecosystems charge for in app purchase. I'm looking for playback and local storage.

But if you can't rent and purchase in app that really cripples their service. If they all play it this way, Roku is going to clean up.

Vudu please port and release into the App Store your IOS app to the new Apple TV (4th gen). We don't need in-app movie purchasing. It's very easy to just point the trusty old web browser over to the website for purchasing. A watch only app would be perfect solution for the Apple TV. Apple even talks about that when using Siri for movie searching they will point to the free/already owned media before looking for a purchase media option. Since I have a large ultraviolet collection I would like to have access to it with Vudu through my Apple TV. My reward for Vudu is my continued support with future purchases. :-)

I've never bought a movie from the current app on my tv. It's annoying and I have to skip past it every time I open the app to get to my collection (i.e. The stuff I actually want to easily access).

Not everyone uses it the exact same way you do...

                      Vudu
                      Netflix
                      Hulu
                      Amazon Video

on any device I'm using. Unfortunately right now that's only Roku. Hopefully Apple TV gets it all, but unlikely (for all.)
SlingTV is a must have for me. I do not have cable or satellite. All my content is OTT. Problem is my home is standardized on Playstation and they have their own OTT TV service which they keep SlingTV off their app list from.

AppleTV too has one due out. No SlingTV on AppleTV either.

Roku4 seems like the way to go. Their market share is leading, despite so many CE companies getting into the market. They are first to market with 4K. What else is there to say?

I have two Vizio's. I agree that response time is sometimes sluggish. However, it depends on the product line. Their higher end SmartLED M series do not have this problem.
