I'd love to see Wal-Mart totally out of the picture!

Simply put, I have over 3,000 movies...what are the chances I lose some of those? 1%-100% what do you think the chances are? I am very worried

Shy of shutting down, it will depend on licensing issues for any party that might buy Vudu. Some content doesn't even have a studio anymore to renegotiate licensing with. If your movies are all from MA studios your losses will be 0% because they're at MA. If everything you bought is from Anderson Digital or The Weinstein Company or something, who can say?

Unless there isn't a new buyer. And Walmart decides to shutter the service rather than continue to fund it.

Walmart won't "shutter" anything because someone will buy it, if that is their plan to sale.

Not to try and perpetuate panic about the unknown, but this is just a reminder that Best Buy sold their EST digital service CinemaNow... 3 years and 2 owners later, they closed shop unannounced with zero refunds. If you had UV linked, those titles were still somewhere, but the rest were gone and so was your money.

No kidding. I would literally never purchase anything ever again on digital if this were to happen. If I made a physical purchase and it had a code I'd still redeem it, but I wouldn't be spending hundreds on digital like I do now.

For me the damage has already been done and however this turns out I no longer have faith Vudu will be around for the long haul which sucks because they were my go to for digital. I already have to worry what will happen to my collection so as tempted as I will be to buy from upcoming sales I'm just going to have to say no because it seems like it will just be a pointless waste. Good job Walmart.

CN was nowhere need where Vudu is now. I assure you Vudu will sale if they want to. CN was dead from the start.

This is what I see happening: Walmart will "sell" Vudu to simply have the buyer then shut it down soon after. This will allow Walmart to wash their hands of it and not have customers complaining to them for refunds or issues. "We sold it in the best interest of the service! Sorry, it's out of our hands now".

I REALLY don't see them existing long and when they go down anyone that bought is and bought movies is going to be ****ed.
Yeah it's weird all these new VOD (EST) retailers are cropping up and yet Vudu, which already has an established fan-base, can't figure out how to be profitable? I'm definitely going to be wary moving forward when purchasing TV shows and non-MA movies, but the thing is that at this point I've invested so much in Vudu that I can't see myself voluntarily switching to a different retailer. Like a lot of people, the only time I ever buy anything from any other retailer is when it is MA-enabled so it can port into Vudu. I would never spend money at a "closed" EST provider like AMC On Demand or Redbox or that new one ROW8. I want my collection in a single place.

I put my collection in as many places as possible to hedge my bets. I actually bought a used Kaleidescape box prior to UV disconnecting just so I could have my UV movies in another provider. After UV disconnected I sold the Kaleidescape box and am left with an active account with them and all my UV movies. Now unless they add MA like is excepted I won't have most of my movies in one place besides Vudu. But I also have accounts with Amazon, Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc. Any and all UV previous providers and current MA providers I make accounts.

Right there with you, 2700 in Vudu, and of those only 1732 are in my Movies Anywhere locker. That's not counting TV programs. Walmart better do right by their paying customers.

I am deeply concerned and worried, I have a ton invested in this system, over 4,175 in movies (counting bundles) and over 320 TV Series (all seasons). Of these only 2,557 movie titles are in MA. I am hoping against all hope that either MA or Amazon steps up and purchases the whole shebang, moves everything over to their platform and all is good going forward.

There is hope in that Xfinity has joined with MA on their platform to port most of the MA titles over and stream data free from their platform. This idea of owning in the cloud is still a viable concept regardless of the streaming services, I own (or I think I own) these titles and can watch them at will, I do not have to lug them around when and if I move. Many of them are just not available on the streaming services, so, VUDU. DO THE RIGHT THING, do not dump us in the dirt after supporting you for so long. Thank You.

If Vudu does end up shutting down I hope they can work something out with iTunes or Amazon to migrate our collections to their service, I would think it would help strengthen either of their services so hopefully one of them will be willing to swoop in to help.
