    What a SCAM

Bought a movie from them to try them out. movie won't load or play, won't download (just sets on"preparing to download"). sent TWO emails, no replies.
    Seems to be crooks.

I've never seen the preparing to download error message. I didn't think you can download, only stream? What device are you using? Also, your connect from your internet device to your Vudu device could easily have issues.

I highly doubt with their 1,000+ of loyal customers, they are "crooks". Side note, COVID has effect many working hours and the amount of hours some stay open.

It's always better to phone Vudu than to send an email. They may be able to fix it while you're on the phone. 888-554-8838

I've downloaded, and played without active connection and had no problem playing back on newer and way old devices this week.

For example I used the Vudu app on my iPad Mini. I had a button for Download or Watch (since I was on WiFi at the time). Clicked Download and watched the progress bar, Then left the house and was able to click Play.

          Brain dead simple and trouble-free.

Did that several times this week alone between my iPhone, iPad Mini, and iPad Pro. None of them is recent. At least 3 years old.

Vudu to go was discontinued a few months ago. You need to download the appropriate app from: the Microsoft store if you are using a windows pc, from Google if using an android device, or from apple.

VUDU To Go still works (if you have the right Adobe Air version).

However, since early this year, a lot of the newer content will not download for off-line viewing.

It does exactly as described. You click download, a window pops up to select SD or HDX (unless you only have the SD version, then it skips this) and then a window pops up that says Preparing to Download.

With most content, after a sec, the download begins. With a lot of the content new to 2020, the window just stays there. Forever. It's like the program freezes up or can't find the media to download.

This is true of even recent TV shows part way thru a season. Download the early episodes just fine, but after that... this happens.

So, you're using an app that is no longer supported, and when it fails to work with newly released content, you get irate and post on the forums about a SCAM.

The actual scam is this thread, unfortunately.

If you would download an app that is currently supported, then all of your problems would go away. Or, you can continue to try putting a blu-ray disc into a cassette player and whining about the conspiracy to take away all your fun. Those are your choices.

The person you're replying to isn't the original poster. They only confirmed what the OP was seeing.

                      Crap.

                      Thanks for the heads up.

                      It's been that kind of...year.

Tried PMing this, but privacy settings wouldn't let me. So, I made the mistake in public...I'll apologize in public!

Hey, I just want to apologize for quoting your post in the What a Scam thread, and responding to you out of order.

I misread what was going on, and completely misunderstood what you wrote...thinking it was the original post. I'm not sure how I made that mistake--it's not exactly a long thread--but I want to apologize for the mistake I made.

In my experience, Vudu is great. I have purchased movies on here forever and until Adobe Air stopped supporting their product, had no trouble downloading and watching movies offline.
There is a way to do it now, but it has been very poorly advertised. VUDOTOGO no longer works without the old (inaccessible) version of Adobe Air, but there is a new app; search for VUDU movies & TV and download the mobile app or pc app, depending on what you want to use. Log in, and voila! In business again.
