iTunes remembers your library even if a movie is downgraded or removed, vudu does not (I think it is treated like a purchase over there, vudu treats DMA titles like a UV library, so any change in your connected DMA library shows up right away)

That is why all the movies are still HD at iTunes and why quite a few of us have both versions of Beauty and the Beast at iTunes after vudu removed one of them last November.

If vudu treated DMA titles the same way as iTunes, you wouldn't even know there was an issue since all your movies would still be there in HDX.

It's very upsetting that everyone is aware of this issue but it's not fixed yet. How hard would it be for Vudu to simply go in and re-upgrade the films? It doesn't matter it Itunes is to blame or not. Ultimately it's a Vudu issue because it's my experience on Vudu that is affected. THe movies are still in HD on Itunes. That means my Itunes experience is unaffected.

Read the previous message. Vudu will not give you HDX upgrades because you never bought the HDX from them, but via DMA using their codes. DMA is what is screwed up. After denying the issue was on their end, Disney agents now claim they are working on a fix, which tells me that is an admission of fault.

Re: Disney movies downgraded to SD

I believe the bulk of the issue involves movies that were redeemed in iTunes from a BD or DVD with an SD-only Digital Copy disc (i.e., originally released before mid-2013) where DMA does *not* have an additional redemption on file, most commonly a Disney Movie Rewards points redemption for the same BD or DVD.

I currently have only three movies affected -- Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 2, and Thor. All of these are MCU movies originally released by Paramount; they came with Paramount DC discs and no DMR points, and they all still show in my iTunes as Paramount releases. (The original Iron Man was also initially released by Paramount, but iTunes now shows its studio as Marvel; perhaps that has something to do with why it's not affected.)

My other DMA movies that came from DC discs -- several of which are mentioned in this and/or the other thread -- also have DMR redemptions in my DMA account history; that's probably why they didn't downgrade. If you have downgraded titles *other* than CA:TFA, IM2 or Thor, you probably don't have a DMA redemption for it in your DMA account history; either you didn't redeem it for DMR points, or else those points expired before you joined DMA.

Those of you claiming downgraded titles without an iTunes account, please doublecheck where you actually got the movie from. If it's CA:TFA, IM2 or Thor, the *only* ways to get those in DMA are generally either iTunes redemptions from Paramount DC discs or purchases from a DMA provider. (The same is true of original IM, but so far there's no reports of it being downgraded.) Generally, if you purchased a DMA movie (Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars) in SD from a DMA provider it should be SD everywhere.

All the movies for me that are affected by this say either "Walt Disney Studios" or "Marvel Studios" as the studio on Vudu. The digital codes were redeemed either on iTunes or disneyrewards.com and were before DMA came out.

Re: Disney movies downgraded to SD

Here is my issue with Vudu on this. They are breaking protocol with how DMA wants it to work. If read the terms of account connection on Disney, it states accounts disconnected will leave all the content at the provider but your dma cannot be reconnected to a different account for a year. So basically content that went into vudu, should stay how they went in unless upgraded to higher quality not other way. The fact that movies dissapear or change based on dma means they are treating it like the uv connection which based on my reading of the above terms, means it shouldnt be that way. Thats why other providers didnt get downgraded. I havent tried it but im guessing disconnecting dma will cause all your dma titles to dissapear.
Regardless of this the issue is on Disney side but woukdnt have effected vudu if they didnt treat it like uv

Who is at fault really doesn't change my point at all.

It's fixed. unlink / relink your DMA and the movies will go back to original positions in HDX.
