    Re: Announcing Clean Versions?

Is Ghostbusters 2 have a Theatrical version and Clean version? I don't see any VUDU Extras tab for it to be included.

It looks tacky and awful when scrolling through my library.

Couldn't you come up with a different solution VUDU, as to not subject the rest of us who find this feature pointless so we don't have to look at it on the artwork? Similar to the way movies are tagged with "VUDU UHD" or the red Sale tags? Couldn't something be made along those lines to go above the artwork, rather than actually on it? The artwork on the Clean Version in the VUDU extras, I have no problem with, as I will never have to look at it.

The feature itself, I'll never use it. Especially concerning Rated-R content. The counter "but my kids can watch it", even edited down or "cleaned", the content of such films like Easy A or Captain Philips isn't appropriate for a child anyways. Stop letting TV/Film raise your children and do some actual parenting yourself. And if you're an adult who wants to watch a censored version of a movie... I'm just baffled at that idea and wonder why you even purchased the movie to begin with.
100% agreed. The reason I shy away from the "Bundle & Saves" too.

        Re: Announcing Clean Versions?

I was very happy to see this feature introduced on Vudu. I am the rare adult who takes content into account in deciding what movies to watch. I decline to see many movies that I want to see simply because they contains explicit sex or nudity, graphic violence, or language. Call me old fashioned, but I just don't want to expose myself to that stuff (let alone my kids). So I thought that this would finally allow me to see some of the movies that I have wanted to see. (And I don't want to hear any arguments about artistic integrity. These clean versions are products that the studios have made available to television stations and airlines for decades. Those markets contribute to the bottom line, which allows the studios to fund these productions in the first place. This is merely expanding the market for movies which means more money, which means more movies. Those who don't want the clean versions don't have to watch them, those who do can. Everybody wins.)

However, when I looked on the page for one of the movies with a clean version (Elysium), I saw that the clean version is a VUDU Extra, which, if I understand correctly, is only available to those who OWN the movie, not to those who RENT the movie. That's disappointing because I certainly don't intend to buy a movie I have never seen just to get access to the clean version.

I think that this is a great service that people are willing to pay for (services like CleanFlix and VidAngel keep cropping up because there is a market here). I want to see it succeed and expand to more movies and studios. I am certainly willing to pay the rental fee to watch some of these movies (and perhaps even buy it if I like the movie enough), but I don't want to buy a movie without seeing it first.

Please allow me to pay you to rent the clean version of these movies.

You didn't read the moderator's post earlier. The answer is there.

I hope they make a "clean" version of Spaceballs. When I was growing up I would see this movie on network TV and Dark Helmet was surrounded by Morons in a very funny scene. I was surprised many years later when I finally watched the theatrical version and they weren't Morons at all. I miss the network version of that scene. It seemed to fit better.

The answer would seem to be self-explanatory. If you bought unrated, you intentionally bought the version created prior to the studio having to edit it to meet a desired rating by the MPAA. The "clean" version is the one further edited to make the video suitable for a wider viewing audience per the FCC. If you intentionally bought a movie with zero edits on purpose, why should they think you might want the version with more edits than the silver screen?

By the way, what's with all the crying about the art and the banner? How much time do you spend admiring the thumbnail anyway? Watch the one you paid for or watch the freebie edit, but quit complaint about the free handout because you don't like the picture. Sheesh

I'd like a clean version of Good Will Hunting. I always crack up at the network version of the scene where they've bought burgers and the kid in the back seat keeps asking for his "burger sandwich".

Some of your eight year olds can probably explain the jokes to the head-in-the-sand
parents. Better take away their cell phone and table also. Amazing.

I wonder if SONY Music is going to put out +Clean versions of their Rap songs?

I'm also seeing this happening to my library. It appears they took away my original copies of Elysium and Ghostbusters 1 and 2 and left me with this clean version non-sense. Replace what I paid for, immediately.!!

I just wish they would remove that stupid. +Clean Version on the photo of the movie. Put little a little CV or something on it, not need for that huge + Clean Version taking up 1/5 of the photo.

Too much to look through, but did they remove the "+ Clean Version" from the main title artwork? I'm only seeing it on the actual clean version now.

I don't think it's necessarily gone - it sounds like they will remove the clean version for a title if it's director objects (and they certainly all might)
