Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

I would say this is a net positive for me. I linked my account and everything (I didn't check 1 by 1) it seems like from iTunes, Amazon and Google popped up in VUDU almost instantly. I did a bunch of D2D back in the day so I will be interested to see what shows up in MA. Until the app ecosystem across Xbox/Win10/TiVo shakes out I will keep using VUDU app. Got some upgrades to 4K as well. Just poking around.

So far only movies added to vudu up to the beginning of 2013 have transferred to MA. Hard to tell if they are adding in slowly or if they just stopped at that year. I guess I will give it til tomorrow to decide if i need to try to relink vudu or not. Amazon and Itunes worked perfect though. Vudu seems to be the issue, but I have a rather large library.

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

Pretty much everything has shown up on Amazon and Google/YouTube.

The freebies are the only things to show up on iTunes so far.

The freebies haven't shown up at all here, thought the only ones I didn't own already are Jason Bourne and Ice Age.

        What do?

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

I have 2,500 movies and only 1,700 have ported over. I'm assuming those missing 800 titles are MGM, Paramount and Lionsgate titles. Somebody a couple pages back had commented his Lord of the Rings Trilogy didn't fully come over but all three of my Extended Editions did as well as my Hobbit Trilogy extended editions. My Batman vs Superman theatrical came over but not the extended and I just bought Spider-Man Homecoming a few days ago so it's at the top of the list for Vudu but nearly 3/4 of the way down on MA so there doesn't appear to be any type of order to how movies are placed which sucks because I'll buy whole series of movies in one shot to keep them bundled but MA just scatters them everywhere and since there's no catorgorizing or search functions those of us with large collections it makes it hard. Strange how some movies have been upgraded to Dolby digital plus like Tombstone but movies like Heat are still in stereo on both Vudu and MA.

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

There are probably a lot of independents in there too. I have about 1750 in Vudu, and about 850 did not port. That includes 183 from Paramount, 47 from Mgm and 210 from Lionsgate.

I had a much smaller library in google - around 114. 48 ported over. Of those that didn't, 3 were Disneys, 3 were Sony, 1 was warner bros, 1 was 20th century fox, 4 were Lionsgate, 5 were paramount, 3 were miramax, 6 were mgm, 3 were dreamworks, 4 were hbo, and the remaining 33 were independents.

My I-Tunes and Amazon libraries were minimal, with mostly duplicates of ones in Vudu, via redemption codes. I only had one new title from each port over to Vudu( a Disney redeemed back in the day and the almost unwatchable Ladyhawke in Sd).

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

Just out of curiosity I purchased an upgrade, HD of Prince of Tides from Amazon, I only had the SD on VUDU. The new format migrated to MA, but has not migrated to VUDU, iTunes or Google. It has been 24 hours, not sure why it has not caught up at VUDU or the others yet, but thought it would be prudent to let folks know that there seems to be a lack of transparency on upgrades purchased from other vendors. I will be trying a new title soon and see if that migrates properly as well.

Update - just purchased a film from another retailer, it was immediately recognized by MA, migrated to VUDU and has not migrated to the others, why not, well I do not think that they own the rights to that title, since a search on their website for the title results in nada. Still no sign of the upgrade on the Price of Tides in VUDU, very, very odd since it is both UV and MA and the format upgrade should migrate immediately.

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

Yesterday I purchased the War of the Planet of the Apes on iTunes. I did that so I could stream it in 4K through iTunes. I have yet to see that title show up in MA or VUDU or Amazon. Anyone know how long it takes for new purchases to sync? After connecting my accounts a few days ago my movies synced up. This is the first new purchase I've made since linking the accounts. Is there something else I need to do?

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

I believe most if not all of my Vudu movies showed up in MA app after only a few minutes. But nothing has showed in iTunes besides the freebies, and this has been since yesterday afternoon. I disconnected iTunes this morning and reconnected and still nothing from Vudu.

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

So I started with 1309 unique movie titles in Vudu. Of these:

                    920 ported to Movies Anywhere
42 are NOT UV or DMA, so I don't expect them to port
241 are Lionsgate or Paramount, so I don't expect them to port

This leaves me with 106 titles that didn't make it. Of these, 6 are really TV shows that list under "Movies" (A Charlie Brown Christmas, and others) so I don't expect them to port.

That leaves me with 100. 98 UV and 2 DMA

                    The DMA Titles are:
                    Toy Story of Terror
Lion King Signature Edition (the one with the special features)

                    The UV Titles are:

Many of these are from smaller studios, but some are not. Most surprising to me are the 23 Bond movies. I know MGM can be hit or miss when it comes to UV, but I would have thought the UV titles would make it to MA.

Did anyone get any of these titles to port?

I'll be checking these titles further to see if Vudu has them as MA-eligible.
                    Thanks

For anyone intending to redeem Ultraviolet codes...

The safest, best bet seems to be to redeem everything through Movies Anywhere.

I've done this several times yesterday. I took a Standard Def Ultraviolet code, redeemed it on Movies Anywhere. It migrated to Vudu as HD, then Google and Amazon. It then appeared in Ultraviolet library at myuv.com showing I own the SD & HD versions (when it was working yesterday). Where it shows what retailer you redeemed the code through, it indicated I used Vudu. Then, those same movies appeared as HD in my Fandangonow account (under Ultraviolet).

I'm having issues with iTunes, so I can't say how it would all appear over there, but I imagine it would migrate there as well in the manner it did for Google & Amazon.

So if you want to get your MA/UV titles to populate everywhere (and upgrade SD codes), I recommend redeeming at the MovieAnywhere site.

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

For those interested in how this impacts movie sharing through Ultraviolet...

Someone under one of my Ultraviolet sub-accounts added two movies through Disc 2 Digital, through Vudu, that were UV/MA compatible (the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies).

Both of these titles populated into my primary Vudu account. They also appeared in my Fandangonow account, which I imagine indicates it is now in my locker at myuv.com (which is currently down again).

Neither of these titles, which are MA compatible, appear in my Movies Anywhere account.

                        So........

Those who share your Ultraviolet account can still contribute to your library, and share and view movies the same way. But, any movies they add won't carry over to MA they way any had during the initial importing of your library.

I believe we kinda knew this going in, but now I got to see how this actually plays out.

Now, as additional studios join MA, will the cut off date for transitioning these titles be the date we linked our Vudu libraries with MA, or the date they sign up with MA? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

This leaves me with 111 titles that didn't make it. Of these, 6 are really TV shows that list under "Movies" (A Charlie Brown Christmas, and others) so I don't expect them to port.

                          Toy Story of Terror

Many of these are from smaller studios, but some are not. Most surprising to me are the 23 Bond movies. I know MGM can be hit or miss when it comes to UV, but I would have thought the UV titles would make it to MA.

Did anyone get any of these titles to port?

I'll be checking these titles further to see if Vudu has them as MA-eligible.
                          Thanks

None of the Bond titles are porting/migrating yet, at least in my universe.

For the poster that asked about Blade Runner Final Cut, that too is NOT showing up in iTunes at all as any format (the title is available in iTunes and I had the UHD format already in VUDU), Amazon this title is resident (not sure what format, no way to tell in the browser view, but I have no ability to purchase it in any of Amazon's formats so it is as high a format as Amazon offers), and it is resident in Google as the highest format available through Google. Blade Runner Final Cut was originally a disc to digital conversion for HDX that I did some time in June of 2012.

Just an FYI my library is large, over 3600 movie titles and I have lost count of the TV titles and episodes that are resident in VUDU. I had chosen to use VUDU exclusively, for conversion, purchases and storage of my non UVVU library, with only the use of iTunes for titles like Lincoln and War Horse (they did not redeem anywhere else), Amazon for a few esoteric titles that VUDU did not have and still does not have, hoping that they, VUDU, does sometime, cause I will purchase them from VUDU as well, again.

UVVU is down again, at least in my universe. UVVU is a challenged child, I know this and just kind of try with a degree of grace to ignore their ups and downs.

What I have done was purchase an MA only title - Gone in 60 Seconds, for another vendor (not VUDU, sorry guys, I do love you and it was just a test case) it showed up in VUDU instantly, it took a little while, but now in iTunes (took about 5 to 10 minutes unlike VUDU which was instant), Google, nope, has not shown up and they have the title available for purchase. The title is resident in MA instantly.

The upgrade in format from SD to HDX/HD purchased from another vendor has not shown up in VUDU as HDX yet, but, and there is hope, it has shown up as HD in iTunes, and Google now has it as HD also. The only vendor missing the upgrade, is VUDU, sigh.... probably due to encode.... sigh..... The upgrade in format is in MA, the title has populated twice, that is how I am assuming that it is now HDX/HD in MA.

Now for the title that I purchased about 24 hours ago from another vendor (3 guesses as to who, and the first 2 do not count, again sorry VUDU just a test case, I still love you all) that was both MA and UV, it is resident in VUDU (instantly), took some time to become resident in iTunes and has never shown up in Google (the title is available in Google too). This title was resident instantly in MA as well.

As for my UHD titles, for some very odd and mysterious reason (I have no idea) none of them are porting to iTunes as UHD, no upgrades yet either, maybe due to the size of my library, maybe that they are not going to port in UHD, and that I will not receive upgrades, have no earthly idea....

These are just my tests, results and observations, others may have different experiences with the system. I do believe that due to the size of my library, that the titles will take time to port with their formats intact, and I also believe that for the most part VUDU HAS the BEST, most seamless and most transparent relationship with UVVU and MA. The other vendors do not seem to have the whole "thing" down yet. VUDU has been for my purposes the go to vendor and digital entertainment cloud storage choice since I started this process in 2011.

THANK YOU VUDU (yes I am a fan girl and unabashedly admit it)

I bought the DVD of True Lies just to use with Disc to Digital, then it was pulled from Vudu's marketplace. I'd pay $20 right now for the digital copy of 'True Lies'.

                              NJScorpio: Timing is everything.

A few amendments to my previous list:
The following titles are not UV (ooops)
                              Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead
                              Europa Report
                              The Final Countdown
                              Highlander
                              The People That Time Forgot
I do not expect these to port. I updated the previous post.

Note that 3 movies that were NOT UV or DMA did make it to MA. These are:
                              Bridge of Spies
                              Real Steel
                              War Horse

Based on Vudu, the following titles from my list should have been MA, but are not:

Lethal Weapon Director's Cut 1987 Warner Bros.
Lethal Weapon 3 Director's Cut 1992 Warner Bros.
                              Memphis Belle 1990 Warner Bros.
Superman: The Movie 1978 Warner Bros.

                              ...and the 2 DMA Titles:
                              Toy Story of Terror
Lion King Signature Edition (with special features). Note that the movie ported ok, but the "second" copy on Vudu with the special features did not. The version on DMA has a couple of special features, but not a lot. If they just added the special features, I'd be ok.

These have all been mentioned in another thread.

There are a few that aren't listed as MA-eligible, but, perhaps, should be. 4 of 6 "Thin Man" movies are MA. The other 2 are not. They're all from Warner Bros. There are other examples, mostly from Warner.

Can someone at Vudu check into this?

                              Thanks

Great, thanks for confirming it's not just me. Hopefully soon, iTunes seems to be the most fussy one for me, slow porting etc, I just noticed that my Talladega Nights didn't port to itunes because they only have the unrated version

***For those with issues with The Lion King and Toy Story of Terror! - two phone calls to DMA 24 hours apart got me a new code to redeem on MA for The lion King, which by the way is the only version on MA, they don't seem to have any special features for it on MA... but it ports as the Signature edition to the other providers that have it.

With Toy Story of Terror! they told me that they are having issues with it and that they are working on it. I have not heard back from them so clearly still an issue, but at least it's something they're working on (hopefully)
