You are absolutely right. The update to the static database that included the 2 free Bourne HD movies took the longest by far. Any updates after that database can be downloaded in a matter of a couple hours as long as the connection to Vudu is good.

I understand the first update/initial loading will take the longest, but it should not take a week (and still not be done). this does not give the new buyer a feeling of confidence in the product. It does not wow them on the first use.

Like suggested before, how about a priority in what gets updated first?
      • wish list items
      • the database headers
      • the free movies

as you get more and more units out there to seed, an increased network usage for the first load would not hurt anything. Esp. in the off peak hours.
Maybe if you want to keep the traffic light in the p2p area, make the first update come from the home servers???

Just some thoughts on making the experience better.

ok, so now it is 24hrs later...the unit was left untouched and the same titles are showing as coming soon...

can you tell if it has gained in % ...?

ok...so another 36 hrs past my last 24 hr update...

i still show a few titles that should not be on this list. (or the headers have not come down yet?!?!)

bring it on: in it to win it...says rent it on Jan 31. no buy it now option, and rental date is in the future...

tv series firefly still has a show or two saying coming soon...

so, why is this taking my box so long? or why is a title not avail showing as most watched?

can someone confirm that my box is up to date???

          thanks

That sounds about right. If it's giving you dates, then that's what you should see. As for the TV shows - there's a known bug where it shows as "coming soon" but is actually available. Go and try to buy the episode, you'll see that it's ready to purchase.

              what sounds about right???

10+ days to get the first database and headers (and bourne titles)...i was under the impression it would take 2-3 days...

plus, a movie (bring it on) is showing in the most watched, yet it is only avail to buy on Jan 31??? <<bug issue???>>

i did click on the tv show to get more info on it. it would only let me add it to the wish list...no buy or rent option.

is it possible for them to remote check what i'm seeing? everyone must think i'm talking crazyness, but i'm just trying to do my part so the next person might/will have a better experience.

Yes they can remotely validate your box. If you provide your system id. Its on the label on the bottom and starts with 0x. Also you can contact their support department:

What it sounds like is that you may have discovered a bug in the "Most Watched" routine. If the movie says it is available to Buy on Jan 31st, then that's not something needing a database update. It shouldn't be in "Most Watched" however. We'll have to look into this...

As for the Firefly episode bug, it's possible that it isn't available yet. I'm not sure which episodes of Firefly are available yet and if all episodes have been released. I'll check on my end.

ok, so it seems a new database has been pushed (14:1437) and all of my issues have disappeared.

mods. you can lock this up if you want.
                        thanks.
