Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

Went to the local Walmart Supercenter tonight. Visited the Photo Center and not a single associate knew about the Disc to Digital program or even knew what Vudu was even though there are plenty of banners posted promoting the new service. Finally spoke to a manager that is aware of the program but informed me that this location is not ready to offer the Disc to Digital service.

Honestly how can Walmart offer any type of customer service if they don't even inform or train their people properly. Walmart announced this a month ago and the stores are not even prepared.

I have been using Vudu's service for nearly 4 years. I was looking forward to adding my collection to the cloud to make it easier for family to access our movie collection. So far it's not off to a good start.

My post from this thread - http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php?t=82421&page=4

Same for me today also. I took 10 movies with a printed Vudu Movie List. At 8pm there was no one at the Photo Center. I asked for assistance and they sent someone over that had no idea what Disc To Digital was even after I showed him the counter sign. This sales person said the photo guy leaves at 5pm. So, will I only be able to get this done early in the day or what? Will I have to wait to the weekend as I am not taking off work. I was really looking forward to this today but now I am frustrated.

I had a return to make at customer service and I complained that there was no assistance in the photo center. I was told to call 1-800-Walmart to complain.

Too bad you don't see the value in this service. Well here is an example. A few weeks back during spring break it rained quite a bit, all the kids were at my home to watch movies (cool dad with a big home theater screen), anyway get home and all the movies are just scattered. I'm quite technical and have played with home servers and built some using ISO movies, MKV, My Movies, XBMC, etc. Just tied of the hassle of maintaining all the stuff and making sure it works without Family calling Dad for help. We have been using Vudu since '08 and loved it. Now it will be easier for anyone to pull up a movie and watch it.

Somehow I don't think it is within licensing to share movies across multiple households.

I think Wal-Mart will have the service working soon, including having employees at each store offering the service with knowledge about handling the customers. I am sure some stores will be up to speed later than others but I expected that.

I don't know about multiple households but you can have up to six members on your account and you can have up to three streaming sessions going concurrently with those members. According to the FAQ at the UV site.

That's surprising. I guess my movie collection just got six times larger!

I took a couple DVD's try to try out yesterday. They knew of it, but I was the first at that location so they had to find and read instructions, but other than that, I had no problem. May depend on the location.

The 2nd closest wal mart too me at least knew about the program. I went in and they were able to get it done (though it took 3 employees to figure it out). The quality is great on my ps3. Anyone interested in the program should definitely call ahead first and ask to speak to the photo dept. Otherwise you may just be wasting time and effort. I'll give them some leniency based on the fact it's a new program, but I do feel they should at least know about the program. When 3 employees and a manager all tell you that you are wrong and the program doesn't exist there is something wrong with the rollout.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I took 50 DVDs and my 2 vudu disc to digital movie lists to Walmart photo center on 4-16 at 2 PM for the disc to digital in Crestwood, IL.

No one at the Photo Center or customer service heard about the disc to digital even though there was a card on the photo center counter but they finally got the assistant manager to come over.

He said I was the first for the new service and started reading on how to do this and looking for activation cards and calling other Walmart stores but none have received their activation cards.

Walmart announced this a month ago and are not prepared.

I wasted a hour at this store and called Walmart at 800 925-6278 to complain but was told they don't do Disc to Digital.

WoW! Fifty?!! You plan on going all in.

That just sounds like alot at one time. Even if the employees were up to date on the procedure, it seems like it would take a while for them to process that many titles.

I took 15 movies to Walmart today over my lunch hour (1 BluRay and 14 DVD) and it took less than 10 mins to complete the transaction. The Walmart associate said I was the first person to come in for the offer. I brought my movies in a paper CD sleeve and left the bulky DVD/BD covers at home. The person did a double take and asked why. Told him that I have so many DVDs and little room so I placed all disc into the sleeves to take up less room. He said "cool. that's not a bad idea". He then proceeded to process my list that I printered from Vudu and I paid my bill. 5 mins later I got and email from Vudu with a copy of my receipt and a statement saying my queue was updated. Totally easy process.

I called my local wal mart last night they said yes they offer the service. I show up at 6pm tonite and the young girl said I don't know how to do this and to come back tomorrow. Now I don't blame her but the store had a huge sign about this and a manager does not know his employees are trained for this?
