Not good enough, Daniel. We gave Walmart and Vudu our money in good faith with a GUARANTEE of delivery on the date of release. I just checked my tracking # for UPS you folks sent me on the 9th of December. My GUARANTEED delivery will get here on Saturday, December 14th. Explain to us why we should EVER bother pre-ordering with Vudu or Walmart again?

Unfortunately I think we will get nothing. It's an unfortunate side effect of Vudu having to rely on the studio to make good on the shipments. I think basically Vudu is at the mercy of the studios here. I think Vudu can't/won't compensate anyone probably due to how much this would cost them. Upset customers only last for a while and they will weather the storm.

I'm with you on this grreymage.

This is NOT the first occurrence, or even the second occurrence of Wal-Mart/VUDU inability to meet pre-order delivery commitments. It's not as if the December 10th deadline wasn't known until last week. It's been out there for months! Failure to meet pre-order delivery dates established well in advanced has become the norm. Furthermore, there's absolutely NO excuse for it not having been corrected by now so that it NEVER happens again! In my work . . . through three different careers, multiple people were summarily terminated for multiple repeats of the same quality and customer commitment failures as that level of gross ineptitude, incompetence and negligence were considered absolutely and utterly unacceptable. The concept is Irreversible Corrective Action, and it's apparent that neither Wal-Mart nor VUDU understand it. It's not Rocket Science, it's rather simple, and the term is quite self-explanatory.

I would like to know what -- in detail -- Wal-Mart and VUDU are doing to put in place an effective irreversible corrective action to ensure that this never, ever, occurs again, from now to the end of time. We are their paying customers -- the reason they're able to remain in business -- and they OWE US a detailed explanation about what they're doing to correct it.

I'm not going to lose sleep over it or get ulcers, but I'm NOT happy . . . I'm greatly dismayed and sorely disappointed. The likelihood of me doing any more business with Wal-Mart, for any reason, is so near zero at this point that it may as well be zero. I'm coming to the conclusion that neither Wal-Mart nor VUDU care about meeting customer delivery commitments, and they're just "blowing smoke" to try to placate people while continuing to stumble and fumble onward with "Business As Usual."

I don't get "upset" with a pattern of repeated quality and customer commitment failures -- it's not worth the stress and emotional energy -- I just choose to never do business with the company anymore, along with pursuing a "remedy" for any "damages" if it's appropriate to do so and a sufficient one not already offered and accepted. I have a relatively short list of companies with which I will never do business again.

Public embarrassment (impacting Public Image, Public Goodwill, and Brand Value) that indirectly affects revenue and direct $ loss of revenue, or a remedy that comes out of the balance sheet's bottom line (their profit) . . . including a clear and likely potential for these . . . are the ONLY things corporations understand and react to.

I work in customer and field service. When a customer is unhappy with anything we've done, we immediately do whatever it takes to make them understand and (if our fault) usually resolve it with some sort of discount or warranty (meaning completely replaced). We don't have nearly the customer base as Vudu so we have to be very respectful of our customers.

Large corporations with huge a customer base can literally afford to have some unhappy customers. There are still millions more loyal customers. For instance, someone posted on Youtube his cell caught on fire. Rather than the company saying we will replace it they told him remove it from Youtube and then they will replace it. This seems like a bad PR move right? I guarantee this will not affect their quarterly revenue report. Do you think this large company with millions of customers really cares about this one guy? Another company saw fit to step in and offer their cell to the person free of charge. My point is, if a very large number of customers were unhappy they would indeed act upon it. As it stands, at least from these posts we don't number enough unhappy customers to make a difference.

For me, something this minor, isn't worth my time to get all worked up about. I have been able to watch Despicable Me 2 for over two weeks now on my Vudu account, so I am not sure what I am missing out on. Does the physical copy come with cash? Does it do something magical? If so, by golly, I should have it by now and not have to wait a few extra days. Now...I can see if you didn't redeem the preorder in your account but had the disc ship to you, you might be a little peeved that you don't have the movie yet. But...since you should have the movie in your Vudu account, available to watch, what's the big problem of waiting a few extra days?

I think what Vudu should do is modify the prepurchase cards to say "You will receive the movie by mail at or around the release date." There.

Ah, yes. Why worry of the kids not being able to watch on a TV not hooked up to the internet? Why worry about the 3 minion extra movies that came only with the physical disc and not on Vudu? Why worry over the toy I specially ordered with the movie as a gift to my kids?

I'm upset because something I paid money for is not here, Hen. I don't just lay down and accept people walking over me like a doormat as you do. I paid for a service that was implicit in it's delivery date. It's folks like you that enable these businesses to continue with their practices.

I, and many others, paid to have this in hand on the date of release. If you call customer service they state the weather may have been a factor. Oddly, Walmart and Target and everywhere else that sells the movie had it on the release date with no trouble. So there goes that excuse. When I pay for something I expect the service to be prompt and on time. As things stand, I will never pre-order a movie from Walmart/Vudu again. Much more simple and far less aggravating to simply go and grab it in store.

We all have our opinions on which battles to fight. As I said, for me, this one is pointless and not worth it. Vudu apologized, and said they are working on a fix. Done. Problem happened, mistake admited, let's see if it keeps happening.

I am probably the last person that would ever "lay down and accept people walking over me" but life is too short to let small things like this cause ulcers.

Who knows, this might be a good time to teach the kids patience.

I also haven't seen this "apology" you are speaking of. 'Walmart is working' isn't an apology, it's an evasion. There's a difference.

Also, I wasn't attempting to attack you personally, Hen. Acceptance in the face of stupidity drives me straight up a wall. If it works for you, thats fine. Not for me.

Re: Despicable Me 2 Pre-Order and Walmart

Not getting this one on or before 'release date' has pretty much sealed my decision to avoid doing any Wal-Mart pre-orders for a good while. I was already aware that I could (and likely have) wind up paying more than I otherwise would need to for stuff that I was pre-ordering since there's usually a pretty good pricing battle going on between big box stores and famous internet retailers that would save me some $$ and otherwise get me pretty much the same thing that I'd be getting from Wal-mart. In the case of one of those other options I have a long history of pre-ordering items and getting them shipped to me on or prior to 'release date'.

While I know I'd be giving up the early access that Vudu provides to the UV digital copy, I avoid any frustrations with 'pre-order' box art and get the regular box art when I redeem the digital copy.

Sorry Wal-Mart/Vudu, but like others here, I find it unacceptable that a pre-order that is promised for 'release date' is late and that, generally speaking, nothing is being done to compensate people for the delays. A $5 Wal-mart gift card and/or a $5 - $10 Vudu credit might sooth over the feelings a bit and leave people feeling a little less shafted, but that doesn't seem to be in the works here and instead it seems that people are just left waiting for the Blu-rays or DVDs that they'd already have if they went to the store and picked up a copy there.
