I brought that up earlier when people were questioning Vudu's staying power. Lots of people spent money on collections in formats that didn't last. Beta, 8 track, LP, laser disc, to name a few.

Of course the downside to having a little more disposal income is the mistakes you make. I was a big believer in HD dvd. Wouldn't be too bad but now a lot of that collection is rotting away (really rotting/unplayable) so that's one reason I've been a little more cautious jumping on the streaming (collection in the cloud) opportunity.

Fear not if you have never heard of them, you have to have been born well before 1970 to have heard them in person.
As a few of us here have. Glad to know that you are still in the game. I know I will try to stay in as long as I can. You are the exception to the rule and we shall all bow to you. Hail Queen Roxie_Muzic!!

Old or the vestige of "old" does not mean that we are not early adopters or averse to new technology, it means that there is an age difference only.

Of course, if you can only afford to do D2D for a handful of movies, sure, do SD and get more for your money. But unless someone only uses small screens for some reason (maybe a salesperson on 100% travel for work) and feels confident that they won't upgrade, I'd say that HDX is worth the "investment" so that you don't pay for SD now and then pay again for HDX down the road. Even my salesperson example might get a promotion to sales manager at HQ.
