Hey, but when I was younger I never would have been able to afford all of these cool toys!

Besides, my wife is a year younger than me, and she can't tell the difference between 480p and 1080p even with her contacts in!

Are there any plans to use HDR10 which is the standard for UHD BDs? I would love to rent some UHD titles but without HDR10, it's not worth it.

For some reason You've decided to use only Dolby Vision. And most UHD TVs with HDR use HDR10. The other streaming services are using both HDR10 and Dolby Vision to accommodate everybody. I would love to spend more money with Vudu renting UHD titles. But without HDR10, it's not happening.

I was under the impression from reading somewhere that HDR-10 is just a subset of Dolby Vision so it wouldn't be difficult to implement HDR-10 once Dolby Vision was possible. I guess this is not a true statement? I wish one of the Vudu moderators or the Engineer that posts occasionally would comment.

Re: Vudu UHD 4K is here!

I finally got cable internet today, and tried out In the Heart of the Sea UHD. Pleasantly surprised how good it looked (Roku 4).

So, the Samsung SmartTV Vudu App doesn't support 4K UHD? Is that correct? Only those very limited number of Vizio models listed, etc??

For some reason my Roku 4 with an expensive 4K UHD Rated HDMI cable still fails to allow 4K due to an HDCP 2.2 Support Error. I have confirmed with Samsung that my Curved 65" 4K TV does indeed support HDCP 2.2 on all 4 HDMI ports, so I'm at a loss at this point. Wanted to stream Batman v Superman in 4K but my Samsung App doesn't support UHD and my Roku 4/Samsung combo just keeps getting HDCP 2.2 Error on all ports no matter which I boot-up first, etc.

Any thoughts??? Any announcements I may have missed from Vudu on upgrading the Samsung SmarTV Vudu app??

              Thanks everyone in advance.

My display has some issues with WCG, etc... so just getting the higher bitrate of Vudu UHD could be a bonus for me, I just hope we start seeing more new release titles added. The current layout reminds me of when HDX first launched, and a lot of stuff never got the treatment.

If I'm understanding you correctly, lots of us are getting this error on the Roku 4 when viewing Vudu 4k content. All you have to do is say "Ok" or leave the error message and it will still work fine. You should be able to watch the 4k content even if you receive this error.

There is a known issue where the Roku4 is only enabling HDCP 2.2 when actually starting to play back 4K content (vs all the time), and it is taking too long to negotiate with some TVs. As you said, if you hit "Ok" it ends up working since the negotiation has completed by then. We are working with Roku on potential fixes/workarounds.

Re: Vudu UHD 4K is here!

Roku was supposed to issue a firmware update (of some kind) at end of June, which obviously never happened.

Nvidia on the other hand promised a Shield TV update before end of June as well and delivered.

I'm really going to drop my Roku 4 sometime soon and just switch 100% to the Shield TV.

Does the Shield also have Amazon in HDR? If so, I may switch as well?

Roku has really gone downhill and I too am looking at the Shield. Competitors are blowing them away on features and the audio sync issue on the 4 is terrible. I was watching Spectre the other night and when Bond turns and shoots in the famous gunbarrel you can hear it before the shot is fired. I mean the thing came out last year - how can something like that not have been fixed yet?

I wait for the day Vudu is on Apple TV - and I remain hopeful that will happen...

I'm guessing the answer is "No" since Amazon and Google don't play well together and Android is associated with Google, right?
