VUDU looks like it's WB only. M-Go is Fox only, so they've got the Maze Runner movies. Hopefully Scorch Trials hits UHD Blu-ray early next year since the first movie has already been announced.

I wanted to mention, that the ROKU 4 is now carrying MGO and finally gives other tv brands besides mgo access to the app. similar to vudu UHD, i believe this is just the 1st step in granting access to the MGO app on tvs built in app store. so when mgo comes to other tv brands, the scorch trails in HDR will be available to you. but you will need the western digital passport to download the 4k movie which is about 75 gigs. the passport comes with mazerunner part 1 and exodus, but those are early HDR grades and are not reference quality. scorch trails blows away part 1.
I have an LG OLED TV so can't download as it only works with Samsung TVs and Vidity.

... another vote here for an upgrade option from HDX to UHD.

Also the current price point for these UHD titles is WAY too high!

question to VUDU support. If i purchase the 4k version of a movie, if an HDR version eventually becomes available to my tv, would the 4k version basically become an HDR version automatically?

If the movie is advertised as HDR when you purchase it - as all currently offered VUDU UHD movies are - then yes, if the title is HDR and VUDU supports HDR on your TV/device, it would be supported.

If it's not HDR when it's sold I don't think it can be 100% guaranteed you'd get any new HDR version automatically - it would depend on how the studio offers it, i.e. was it just a "better quality" source or a new release like a "special edition", etc.

Any idea when Vudu will open HDR to other devices other than Vizio R hdtvs? Will Dolby Vision be backwards compatible with other HDR devices?

Agreed, although the price is always crazy high right when it hits. Right now this is the hottest/cutting edge thing so its going to be at a premium. My guess is around holiday season 2016 you will see the price come down to earth, probably in the $20 range which will then push Blu-Ray down into the $10 range.

Also, what would be the upgrade price you would be willing to pay for UHD? For the big summer blockbuster type movies I would probably go for $5-7.50 or so. Otherwise I really can't justify $10 for a few more pixels over blu-ray. This is of course dependent on how well new disc players upconvert Blu-Ray to 4K so we will see.

its not just about the pixels. your getting 10 bit color as well compared to 8 bit color on blu ray. 16 million colors in 8 bit versus 1.06 billion with 10 bit. the combination of 4k/10 bit/ HDR create an incredible picture.

Unfortunately, some of us older folks can't see all that awesome detail so we aren't willing to pay the premium price. 1080p works for me right now. Another sucky thing about getting older...

So horribly true.....it sucks to be old, but it does beat the alternative

But the expanded and vibrant colors can still be seen makes the picture more lively!
