Re: Please Remove Ads From Fox Shows

Bob's Burgers seasons also have ads. :/ These have been removed from other digital retailers now that these seasons have ended original broadcast.

VUDU, are you even reading this thread? I want to get Season 2 of Scream Queens, but if ads from the previous season can't be removed here, I see no point in buying the new season. I can watch it on Hulu for free.

Is this something Vudu would recommend we contact the studio to request? Is the studio declining to update? I just wish we knew why the studio isn't allowing Vudu to have the same updated quality encodes they provide to other retailers.

Yeah it's only at the beginning and only a promo for other Fox shows, but still it is annoying. Is it as bad as having ads in the middle or just like the broadcast? No, but still annoying. Don't know what if anything Vudu can do, but I'll be happy as long as this is the exception and doesn't become the norm...

The ads wouldn't bug me if they were universal, which they are upon initial broadcast. The issue is that the studio has provided other digital retailers with updated episodes without ads after original broadcast season. The ads are supposed to be there while that specific season is on, and at least they are for current shows. Most of the older seasons feature ads for shows that didn't live past season 1.

Thank you. This is what is stopping a lot from buying past seasons. I also think it's stupid the studio would put ads on current seasons, after we've paid $20-$40 for a season.

                      Hello All

I checked with our Content Team and the Ads are required by the studios to be there since the series you are watching qualifies for Next Day Air distribution.

The studio is supposed to release new encodes to us for the current season with the Ads removed once they start distribution of the next season. This doesn't always happen as you can see.

Our content team is working with the studios as much as possible to get content that no longer needs Ads so that the ones with Ads can get replaced.

Thanks for your support and Patience on this

Thank you for the update. Yes, currently airing seasons should have the ads as you stated. The issue is that the previous seasons have not been updated, and affects quite a few years (The Simpsons being a big example of that). Hopefully they will be updated soon.

Why do customers have to be required to see ads after we pay a premium to OWN the season with a season pass? I don't like how the studios does this. People can get the same episodes in other ways, without paying a cent and not be subjected to these stupid ads. I can understand having an add run before and after each episode on Hulu, because you are not buying the episode/season, but with Vudu and other services we are. I suggest your content team and FOX (and what other studios do this) work something out to have ALL ads removed. This is why I will not be buying anymore current FOX shows, and will not buy anymore past seasons until these are taken care of.

I couldn't agree more. Customers who bought a show shouldn't have to watch ads, no ads is the major reason for purchasing the content. Fox is the only CRAZY studio that thinks they have this right, but they DON'T.

It only affects shows that air on Fox channels, Fox, FX, FXX. They do this on all retailers, and update them to remove ads once the season completes original television broadcast and new season begins. I don't mind this as it's temporary, the issue for me is that unlike other retailers, Vudu was not getting the updated episodes without ads. The ad issue for currently airing seasons is something you would want to contact Fox directly regarding, as that is what they provide all the retailers with. I'm uncertain if there's a contractual reason for Fox including ads for next day episodes, or if it's purely and simply a way to advertise their other currently airing shows. I'm sure that's not information we would be provided with by Fox, but it doesn't hurt to e-mail them and voice your concern regarding ads in purchased content.

I once purchased a TV season prior to airing but will never do it again (asked for refund) because it was taking to long for them to add the episode after airing. This is just another reason for me not to purchase while still airing. I'll just wait and purchase when on sale in the summer or fall after the season completes as I've always done.
