    4K Ultra HD Playback only
    • Roku 4
I have the newest Roku 4 connected to my Samsung UN55JS8500. I have the HDCP 2.2 HDMI cable connected. Why can I not get 4K content streamed from Vudu through the Roku 4 when it streams 4K content from Netflix, Amazon and the other 4K content providers on the Roku 4?

Returning to our discussion from November 2017,

Updated to firmware 1220.6 on Samsung KS8000 and it appear to have fixed the pixelation issue streaming UHD, but still no HDR10 on Vudu. Will Vudu come out with an updated app to allow HDR10 on the KS series, or is this never going to happen?

Any light on the 4K-Playstaton 4 compatibility? I have fiber network also, so the weakest link is Vudu. It is very overdue and behind times. Any light on the subject?

Can you please update us on this? The Amazon app has been updated. Why can't you update the vudu app on 2017 tvs? It uses the same chipset as the 2018 models.

don't forget to add the Sony UBP-X700 UHD player as a 4K non HDR device.

The TCL 6 series gets released May 1, 2018, I plan on getting the 55". Will that be added to the compatibility list? Or since its a Roku TV, should I assume thats its 100% compatible?

Hi there, I have a Sony Bravia XBR65X930E that, despite me paying for UHD movies and the TV itself being capable of it, I get an error every time I try to play a UHD title on my TV. That TV, which I bought new, stopped working after a week and finally, 5 weeks later this Saturday, best Buy is delivering my replacement, which is the next step up, the Sony Bravia XBR65X900F. Will I be able to play UHD titles on my new TV or have I been backing the wrong horse for years and several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, with VUDU?

                  Comment

FYI, the X900F is a 2018 Sony which has been listed as being supported. Now for us 2017 Sony owners, that's another story...

I posted about this in the technical thread, but I wouldn't get too excited about the 2018 Sony TV UHD support at this point. At least on my 900F it isn't working properly because the app doesn't engage the local dimming, so UHD and HD both look worse than HD from the other options (Amazon, etc.) I've also had problems with buffering pauses while playing UHD that I don't experience while streaming UHD from other places. The 2017 Sony owners might actually be in better shape at the moment if the local dimming is working correctly for HDX quality.

I think it is safe to say they are avoiding the questions about the 2017 Sony TVs. Or the Apple TV 4K.

No news lately on the 16 model KU Samsung either. From Samsung or VUDU.

Any news on some of the titles that have yet to playback as DV5 content. Transformers The Last Knight, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, Mad Max Fury Road, and Lucy still don't work.
