What about the PS4 and PS4 Pro in addition to the Samsung TVs for 4K playback?

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

I have a Vizio M series smart cast display but when I tried to get a UHD title I couldn't play it via the tablet that came with the display. When I called customer support he told me I couldn't do it with my computer either. How can I get UHD titles to my display? According to your post my display is supported.

I started a ticket about this a while back. The reply was basically to sit tight and watch their website for updates to their UHD devices list. Ridiculous because these devices have been capable of 4K playback for years now. Even my 4K Blu-Ray player doesn't have Vudu 4K support. The waiting game is getting old. I've already gone back to buying Blu-Rays for many recent titles. I get the 4K Blu-Ray and still get a code for the digital title anyway and usually for less than the $29.99 Vudu charges for UHD new releases.

I'm assuming they probably signed exclusivity term deals with the manufacturers. XBox having it and PS not adds fuel to this, as they are constantly in exclusivity feuds.

Is there any update on if/when the MiBox will support Vudu 4K?

Sooooo, here we are, THREE MONTHS later and hardly a peep out of VUDU on this.

I have yet to watch a single UHD title on VUDU because none of the devices I want to use support it properly. ( Chromecast Ultra, PS4 Pro, UHD bluray player )

                So frustrating!!

I think it's pretty much that it's finished, but it's up to Samsung to do the appropriate firmware updates. We got an update last week... or at least I did, but no UHD option. I ended up just getting a roku, because I got tired of waiting and the roku had enough other apps that our family was interested in.

What are the expectations for the 2017 NVIDIA Shield TV supporting DV/HDR for VUDU in the future? I saw that DV is now capable in software so guessing this might be something your app for the Shield can handle in the near future, as seemingly that's why it's not supported currently?

We are still waiting on Samsung for these updates...

As far as Chromecast Ultra, I believe Google made the necessary firmware change (outputting 24fps) to support DolbyVision (or SDR to non-DoVi TVs).

What about HDR10? 2017 Sony's will be receiving a dolbyvision firmware update as well within the year. Will VUDU work on Sony's then?

I'll check on this, since LG was specifically verifying it on their TVs. It's possible one or both device firmwares is not released yet, but work is being done to support it...

Thank you Jake, I appreciate it!

Google has been silent on it, other than "it's coming". And I havent seen a statement from LG on it at all.

I talked to Samsung chat support and it wasn't too helpful there. Here's the transcript (condensed):
"Me: Hi, I was just wondering if Samsung is planning on updating the vudu app to be able to stream UHD video?
Customer Support: Hello, I'll assist you with the required information on the updates on VUDU app. Unfortunately, this information will only be available with the VUDU app developers as they are the only ones who have the rights on making changes to the apps. The app developers holds the rights to provide changes with the content and the streaming from the app. So the VUDU app developers would be having the information on the next updates with the app."

Is there anything we can do to apply some pressure to Samsung to up their priority for supporting 4k with vudu (and eventually HDR once vudu supports HDR10)? I'm sure if they keep getting emails in customer service about the issue it will eventually escalate. I'd just like to know the most effective thing to include in the email since at the moment they deflect the question back to you guys. Thanks
