Re: Please Remove Ads From Fox Shows

Yeah, I've purchased the latest seasons on Vudu thinking this was going to be rectified as the content team had said it would. But since nothing has been done, I think I'm going to have use another service for my Fox purchases next season, I do have an AppleTV in every room we need one, so perhaps iTunes. I just really hoped that Vudu would have had this fixed by this point, it's so weird that they are the one company excluded from ad free content once the seasons have finished airing.

I checked with our Content Team and the Ads are required by the studios to be there since the series you are watching qualifies for Next Day Air distribution.

The studio is supposed to release new encodes to us for the current season with the Ads removed once they start distribution of the next season. This doesn't always happen as you can see.

Our content team is working with the studios as much as possible to get content that no longer needs Ads so that the ones with Ads can get replaced.

Thanks for your support and Patience on this

We are still in the process of replacing all Fox content that merits a new encode without ads. This is a long process since it involves replacing hours of content while not affecting the access to these shows. The shows are being replaced in intervals. Bottom line, this is a big project that is being worked on at this moment and takes time to complete.

Thank you for the update FelipeF, I understand it takes time, but I"m just so glad it's actually being worked on. I and I"m sure many others appreciate these efforts very much.

Will this be an ongoing thing when seasons finish airing? I hope not. I hope FOX gets on the ball and starts sending Vudu the encodes much faster. I have held off on buying season 2 of Scream Queens for this reason only.

              FelipeF,

If you hear about shows/seasons that have been updated, could you please let us know? It would be good for those on the fence about Fox/FX/FXX purchases, since the 2 minute preview is gone and we're unable to see what is ad free or isn't until after buying.

Actually... I was just told that all Bob's Burgers episodes are ad-free.

I have observed this thread in amusement for some time now. I can't believe there is so much to say about a brief 10 to 15 second promo that is before the episode even starts. I wouldn't really constitute that as a legitimate ad that would be so cumbersome.

Perhaps you've been lucky to own shows with only one 15 second promo per episode, however some of us own content such as Glee (Season 5 for example), which has 1 minute and 55 seconds of ads per episode. On some shows, it's before and after an episode, and generally consists of outdated ads for canceled shows.

It cheapens the experience, it feels like something you are watching for free on Hulu of Fox.com, except you're actually paying to own these in your collection. I want Vudu to be the best experience possible for everyone as it's my preferred digital retailer, so I think it's okay to expect that the studios provide Vudu with the same ad-free content they provide iTunes and other companies after a specific broadcast time.

I am grateful to Vudu's staff for working on this, and taking the time to update the encodes.

It appears (haven't checked every single episode) that previous seasons of The Simpsons seasons are now ad-free. Have any other titles been updated to remove ads?

I think this may have been posted already (by me or another), can't remember, but I checked Season 1 of Scream Queens and the ads are gone. Can anyone confirm is Season 2 is ad free? Again, may have been stated, just too lazy to look.

Thanks for that, checked a few seasons and can confirm these seasons are now ad free:

American Horror Story Seasons 1-5 (Season 6: Roanoke still includes ads)
Scream Queens Seasons 1 and 2
Fargo Season 1 and 2 (may have been ad free already, but I am pretty sure it had ads before)
