Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

So, I've never purchased anything from iTunes in my life, but, if I go into iTunes on my iPad (my sole iOS device), I am now getting a number of 4K upgrades for free via the movies linked from other services!

I unfortunately don't own a 4K TV/monitor or an AppleTV, but, this does certainly incentivize me to consider such a purchase. Glad to know that I'm being auto-futureproofed LOL

Snitch/Alex Cross/Reasonable Doubt is Lionsgate, so that is not current compatible.

The ones I bought directly (or through another service other than VUDU/IW) but appear to be exactly the same as the WM/IW collections...

Final Destination 5 Film Collection (only 4 of the 5 are MovieAnywhere compatible! The 4th film doesn't have the emblem on the Vudu page, nor does it transfer over). The titles do upgrade to HD from SD.

Planet of the Apes Legacy Collection (upgrades)

      Friday 3 Film Collection (upgrades)

EDIT: I don't know how intentional any of this is, so please proceed with caution. You may buy something and be stuck with the SD version!
Interesting! I wonder if any of these upgrades will stay put, or if they'll be rolled back once things settle in?

Are there two versions of "The Cell" (2000)? My Vudu copy is 1.77:1 but on MA its 2.35:1 with the image cropped on the top and bottom, itunes and amazon seem the same - cropped... google play has the vudu version - 1.77:1

        Anyone know?

Does anyone else have a similar bundle in their library they can check?

EDIT: FYI, my combo of Theatrical/Extended of Suicide Squad properly transferred both versions.
It's not a bundle issue. Vudu doesn't have the Batman vs Superman extended marked as MA so their system isn't porting it out (that's my assumption anyway BvS EE doesn't have an MA logo only UV). The reverse of Vudu saying Any Given Sunday and Memphis Belle are MA, but they aren't showing up anywhere as the MA site doesn't have them listed as MA titles.

I also wonder if Vudu is experiencing issues right now as some titles that are in my MA locker and have ported everywhere else have not ported here. Specifically Two Towers EE and Return of the King EE aren't porting to Vudu.

OK, I had some moves that existed only in iTunes.

"The Proposal" from Touchstone imported into Movies Anywhere and Amazon, but not Google nor Vudu.

"The A-Team" from 20th Century Fox imported into all including UV without issue.

            "Titanic" from Paramount went nowhere.

I'll wait a few days to see what changes.

Edit: nothing changed, I disconnected and reconnected Vudu with MA, "The Proposal" came on over.

Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition Extended Cut needs to be tagged as MA in Vudu. Currently only the theatrical is.

Unless it is only available in SD (like some titles I have with Vudu), they won't show an HD purchase option either.

Is no one else concerned that the most fundamental thing of any streaming service, designation of SD/HD, isn't available? I have never seen a service not tell you what quality the video is.

Each service has its own encode of the movie, so this indeed can happen for many films. There is a thread here for Original Aspect Ratio (OAR) and if you try that same film on the different MA services, one or more of them may have it in the correct aspect.

Re: The Official Movies Anywhere Thread

Apparently Google Play (via the website) has stopped showing SD/HD also.

And the movie Elf, which I had in HD on Google Play, imported into Vudu as SD

Thanks, yes I know this... I'm wondering if there are two different "correct" versions of the film with different aspect ratios, maybe it was remastered at some point... or if MA, iTunes, and Amazon all have bad encodes...

I would just like to say, Bravo!

Disney's Keychest was seen as a stick in the mud. Who would of thought it has come to be the anointed linchpin of the digital copy marketplace.

In only a few hours, I had 700 of my 930 Vudu titles on my family's YouTube apps using the Google Play Family Group feature and in my iTunes account. I also have them in my Amazon.

I know those three are competitors to Vudu, but I still consider Vudu my primary playback app and purchasing retailer. It sure is nice to have the ubiquity though.

Bravo. Way to knock it out of the park on the first swing girls & guys.

                        -Walter

The films original aspect ratio was 2.39:1
                          The Blu-ray release was 2.40:1

If there is an incorrect aspect ratio 9 times out of 10 it will be VUDU with the wrong one.

This could be the biggest news here.

I have an iTunes account, but no device, so I'm trying to figure out how to get my library carried over (do I need iCloud?)...I'd love to get some 4k upgrades! Hell, if I can get the bulk of my UV library upgraded to 4k for free over at iTunes, that will be amazing.

Is anyone else having a problem with their Vudu library transferring into Movie Anywhere?

I've been able to connect all the other services without a problem. And all the other movies have transferred into my Vudu library. But I can't get my Vudu movies to transfer into the Movies Anywhere library.

I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting. I've also tried waiting 3-4 hours. Any ideas?

Mine eventually came in after several hours of waiting. Interestingly enough, my iTunes purchases from many years ago almost instantaneolusly came over to VUDU. It was the other way around that was a little slower.
